ORDINANCE NO.
AN ORDINANCE LEVYING TAXES FOR THE PERIOD OF JULY 1, 1997 TO AND INCLUDING
JUNE 30, 1998, SUCH TAXES IN THE SUM OF $5,368,450.00 UPON ALL THE REAL AND
PERSONAL PROPERTY SUBJECT TO ASSESSMENT AND LEVY WITHIN THE CORPORATE
LIMITS OF THE CITY OF ASHLAND, JACKSON COUNTY, OREGON AND REPEALING
ORDINANCE 2803 AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
THE PEOPLE OF THE CITY OF ASHLAND ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. That the City Council of the City of Ashland hereby levies the taxes provided for in the adopted
budget in the aggregate amount of $5,368,450.00 and that these taxes are hereby levied upon the assessed
value for the fiscal year starting July 1, 1997 on all taxable property within the City.
Section 2. That the City Council hereby declares that the taxes so levied are applicable to the following
funds:

Cemetery Fund 250,000.00 0.00
Band Fund 70,000.00 0.00
Recreation Serial Levy Fund 114,030.15 0.00
Parks and Recreation Fund 2,316,050.00 0.00
Ashland Youth Activities Levy Fund ° 1,100,000.00 0.00
General Bond Fund (82 Water Bonds) 0.00 53,300.00
General Bond Fund (92 Water Bonds). 0.00 188,000.00
General Bond Fund (97 Flood Bonds) - 0.00 62.000.00
Total $ 5,065,150.00 $ 303,300.00
Section 3. Ordinance No 2803 is repealed.
Section 4. Election results were not available until this day and Jackson County requires that this Ordinance
be filed by 5:00 p.m. so that property taxes can be calculated in a timely manner. It is deemed necessary
for the public peace, health, and safety of the citizens of the City of Ashland that an emergency be declared
to exist, and this ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage by the Council and
approved by the Mayor.
The foregoing ordinance was read in full and then by title only in accordance with Article X, Section 2(B) of
the City Charter on this 17th day of September 1997, and duly PASSED and ADOPTED at this single
meeting.
