Dear Mr. Martin:
This is in reply to your letter of January 28 , 1971,
concerning Pacific Northwest Bell ' s plans to rebuild the
overhead telephone line on Highway 66 and East Main Street.
Since the City of Ashland is planning another 12, 500 volt
circuit from Oak Knoll Substation, this line should be
of a design to also provide for City of Ashland facilities .
The City' s requirements are 50-foot poles , Class 2 ,
natural colored or better with spacing as approved by
City of Ashland. The City will have a four conductor
336,000 circular mil aluminum line operating at 12 ,500
volts using no crossarms. The City will provide its own
guying and anchoring except in those locations where a
joint anchor can be utilized.
Please provide us with an estimate of cost.
Sincerely,
Brian L. Almquist
City Administrator

Attention: Mr. BriAn Almquist,
City Administrator
Dear Mr. Almquist:
We understand the City of Ashland is considering an alternate power
route on Highway 66 and E. Main Street.
The enclosed sketch shows the location of our pole line on Highway 66
and E. Main Street where a major aerial plant project is proposed in
the very near future.
A field test shows a majority of our poles will need to be replaced
prior to placing the additional telephone cable. If the City of Ashland
plans to place power facilities along this lead, it would be more
economical to coordinate joint pole construction work now rather than
have the City pay additional overbuild charges after we have rehabilitated
our pole line.
Please advise this office at your earliest convenience so that we may
continue our project now underway.
Sincerely,
A. W. Brugge
