Home My WebLink About2321 Levying Assessments District No 55 ORDINANCE NO. a AN ORDINANCE LEVYING SPECIAL BENEFIT ASSESSMENTS IN THE AMOUNT OF $368,692.55 IN THE MATTER OF SIDEWALKS, CURBS, GUTTERS, PAVING AND PARKING FACILITIES IN LOCAL IMPROVE- MENT DISTRICT NO. 55, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. WHEREAS, the Common Council of the City of Ashland, Jackson County, Oregon, has heretofore proposed to construct curbs, gutters, paving and parking facilities during 1984; and WHEREAS, the total assessment for local improvements in said district is in the amount of $368,692.55; and WHEREAS, the Common Council does hereby determine that the total assessments for the property and individuals assessed are reasonable assess- ments; and WHEREAS, special benefit assessments should now be levied against the property benefitted and fronting on such improvements to defray the expense thereof; NOW, THEREFORE, THE PEOPLE OF THE CITY OF ASHLAND DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. That Local Improvement District No. 55 consists of improvement of sidewalks, curbs, gutters, paving and parking facilities as hereinafter desig- nated in Section 2 and is described as follows: Helman Street Hargadine/Vista Street Nevada Street Service Center Parking Avery Street Mistletoe Road Morada Lane East Main Alley - Railroad Addition Dover Street Winburn Way/South Pioneer SECTION 2. That if the owner of any property so assessed for such local improvement in the sum of $100.00 or more, at any time within ten days after notice of such assessment is first published, so desires, he may have the payment thereof extended in the manner and under the provisions of the Bancroft Act. SECTION 4. That inasmuch as it is necessary to provide the funds immediately with which to pay the cost-of such local improvements, it is hereby deemed necessary for the public peace,.health'and safety of the citizens of the City of Ashland that an emergency be, and the same is hereby, declared to exist, and this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage by the Council and approval by the Mayor.
