PROCLAMATION
"29TH ANNUAL CHRISTMAS TREE RECYCLE DAY"
. • Solid waste disposal and a dwindling capacity in our landfills is a critical ; Q
national problem.
• Garden waste contributes a significant volume in our landfills.
` ' • "Troop 112 of the Boy Scouts of America, with assistance from the Ashland a
Parks Department, pick up and chipped Christmas trees in the City of Ashland.
• The chipped material was used on park trails and as mulch for plants and did
not enter the "waste stream."

• The Ashland Lions Club supports this effort by donating volunteer power and ) Q
equipment to transport the pick-up crews..
, NOW THEREFORE,, the City Council and Mayor, on behalf of the citizens of
Ashland, hereby proclaim Saturday, January 10, 2015 as:

and hereby urge all citizens to set out their tree near the curb on Friday, January 9
to be picked up on Saturday, January 10 , and to consider making a donation to Q
assist the Troop in their community service activities. -
