' • Pollinator species provide significant environmental benefits that are ` I -necessary for maintaining healthy, diverse urban and suburban ecosystems. • Pollination plays a vital role for the trees and plants of our community, a enhancing our quality of life, and creating recreational and economic development opportunities. • For decades the City of Ashland and the Ashland Parks and Recreation Commission have managed urban landscapes and public lands that include many municipal parks and greenways, as well as wildlife habitats. • The City of Ashland and the Ashland Parks and Recreation Commission a provide recommendations to developers and residents regarding landscaping to promote wise conservation stewardship, including the protection of pollinators and maintenance of their habitats in urban and suburban F' environments. r NOW THEREFORE, the Mayor, on behalf of the citizens of Ashland, does ~l hereby proclaim June 20 - 26, 2016 as: National Pollinator Week and urges all citizens to recognize this observance.
