ORDINANCE NO.
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTERS 11.28 AND 11.30, OF THE ASHLAND
MUNICIPAL CODE RELATIVE TO RESTRICTED PARKING AREAS, AND DECLARING
AN EMERGENCY.
THE PEOPLE OF THE CITY OF ASHLAND DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. Subsection A.2 of Section 11.28.010 of the Ashland
Municipal Code shall be amended by changing the reference to "C" Street
to "Lithia Way".
SECTION 2. Subsection A.5 of Section 11.28.010 of the Ashland
Municipal Code shall be amended as follows:
"5. Lithia Way from its intersection with East Main Street
to Helman Street, except between First and Second
Streets as set forth in subsection D, below".
SECTION 3. Subsection D.1 of Section 11.28.010 of the Ashland
Municipal Code shall be amended by changing the reference to "C" Street
to "Lithia Way".
SECTION 4. Subsection A of Section 11.30.010 of the Ashland
Municipal Code shall be amended as follows:
"A. Lithia Way from its intersection with East Main Street
to Helman Street; East Main Street between Winburn Way
and Gresham Street; North Main Street and the Plaza
between Winburn Way and Church Street; and Oak, Pioneer,
First, Second and Third Streets between Hargadine and
Lithia Way."
SECTION 5. That inasmuch as it is necessary to effectuate the street
name change as soon as possible to avoid further public confusion, an
emergency is hereby declared to exist and this ordinance shall be
effective November 1, 1988.
The foregoing Ordinance was first read on the 5th day of July, 1988 and
duly PASSED and ADOPTED this day of July, 1988.

RESOLUTION NO.
A RESOLUTION RENAMING A PORTION OF "C" STREET
BETWEEN 2ND AND HELMAN STREETS AS LITHIA WAY.
WHEREAS, the Ashland Downtown Plan recommends that "C" Street, between
2nd and Helman be renamed "Lithia Way"'to avoid the confusion
of many street names covering Highway 99 through the City; and
WHEREAS, the State Highway Department has no objection to the renaming
of the street; and
WHEREAS, a public hearing was held on July 5, 1988 to consider public
testimony from abutting property owners concerning the change.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and City Council as follows:
SECTION 1. That the Council finds that the public interest and welfare
would be served by the renaming of "C" Street between 2nd Street and
Helman Street as "Lithia Way".
SECTION 2. The Director of Public Works is hereby authorized and
directed to change the street name signs to Lithia Way.
SECTION 3. The City Recorder is hereby directed to forward a copy of
this resolution to the appropriate State and County departments,
informing them of this change.
SECTION 4. This resolution shall be effective concurrently with the
effective date of the ordinance changing the references in the Municipal
Code to "C" Street to Lithia Way, as appropriate.
The foregoing-Resolution was READ and DULY ADOPTED at a regular meeting
of the City Council of the City of Ashland on the day of
1988.
