AN ORDINANCE EXTENDING THE MORATORIUM ON THE DEMOLITION
OR MOVING OF CERTAIN BUILDINGS IN ASHLAND'S HISTORIC
INTEREST AREA, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
WHEREAS, the facts that convinced the Council that a
moratorium was necessary still exist; and
WHEREAS, the Council finds that there is substantial progress
toward the adoption of a permanent ordinance that
will resolve the issue of protecting historice
sources in Ashland; and
WHEREAS, the Council finds that additional time is required
to permit public deliberation and debate on these
issues.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE PEOPLE OF THE CITY OF ASHLAND DO ORDAIN
AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. Ordinance 2473, the Demolition Moratorium
ordinance, is hereby extended to June 7, 1989.
SECTION 2. There being an immediate danger to the public
peace, health, safety, and general welfare, an emergency is
hereby declared to exist, and this Ordinance shall take
effect immediately upon passage by the City Council and
approval by the Mayor.
The foregoing ordinance was first read on the 7th day of
February, 1989, and duly PASSED and ADOPTED this 21st day
of February, 1989.
