These changes appropriately reduce the involvement of the planning department, while granting more authority to the Public Art Commission and maintaining the input of the Historic Commission for art proposed in Historic Districts. However, the addition of item "C. to 2.29.165 Review by City Commissions" (attached) is not only inappropriate, but greatly expands the review and approval process. This requires the Public Art Commission to have reviews by all 12 commissions (as listed here) on all proposed public arts projects. Airport Commission Conservation Commission Forest Lands Commission Historic Commission Housing and Human Services Commission Municipal Audit Commission Parks & Recreation Commission Planning Commission Planning Hearings Board Transportation Commission Tree Commission Wildfire Mitigation Commission Instead of simplifying the process, which is the objective, this greatly expands and further complicates the approval process. suggest that item "C" be change to read: "The Public Art Commission will seek input from the Parks & Recreation Commission when considering public art to be located within a park." Thank you for this consideration. Sincerely, Barry Thalden
