The council met in adjourned regttlar session at 3G o'clock P.M. on the evening of this date. Present Mayor Lamkin; councilmen ::ants, McGee,
Shinn; Frost, absent
Nininger, Turner,
The minutes of the previous meeting were .read and approved as corrected.
The time having arrived far the hearing of any objections to the can9t~uction of
cement sidewalks on Third Mr. Frost stated that Mr. ~artges did not object to the
improvement but wishes to put in his own walk, There were no objections to said im- pro vement.
The fallowing bid fo:r tb.e rongtruction of cement ~valks on Fifth street was next
considered:

I gill construct sidewalk on west side of Fifth Street for nineteen and
one~half cents pe.r foot, do all grading and fil.l.ing, a,ll material to da a first class
job,

Mx. Ciute's bid being thQ only one received, motion was m~.de by Banta, seconded
by McGee that said bid be accepted. The vote was as follows: Ayes Banta, 1~cGee,
Shinn, Frost; nays none; absent Nininger, Turner.. Carried.
Notice of hearing in the matter of designating Belman Street a,s a stop crossing,
said hearing to be given by tre Public Service Gommis~aian of Oregon, was read.
The council next proceeded to c~~nsider a proposed resolution entitled " Resolution
relatfrg to the proposed gradinh and paving of that part of the Boulevard extending from
the present east end of the pavement to Ashland Street, and also that part of Ashland
Street extending from the Boulevard to Walker Avenue, of the City of Ashland.
The resolution having been read the first time, an motion, the rules were suspended, two-
thirds voting in favor tY.er.~QOf, and the resolution wa.s passed to the second reading. 4 Having been read the second time, roll call was ordered
on the adoption of the resolution.
Th~~ vote vas as follov►s: Ayes Banta, McGee, Shinn, Frost; nays none; .absent Nininger,
Turner.
Thereupon the Mayor d.ecla.red the resolution adopted.
Councilman Banta brought up the matter of buying the tax. certificate on the property
fo.rrr~erly owned by G, Canning, said property beir:~ Lots 7 to 12 inclusive, Blk.
E, Railroad Addition, and stated that the Realty Committee wished an expression from the council as to ~~hether or not the Realty Committee should purchase
$aid certificate.
After some discusaicn, motion was made by Shinn; s~.~conded by Frost, that the City
Attorney be instructed to beg#~ fareclo:~ure on said tax certificate when she receives
the same from the Realty Committee. The vote was as follows: Ayes Santa, McGee, Shinn,
Frost; nays none; absent Nininger, Turner. Carried.
The council next discussed the matter of repairing the :roof anti interior of the Citg* HaII. Moved by Shinn, seconded by McGee that the matter of
making said repairs be
left to the Finance Co~uni ttee with power to Act. The note was as follows: Ayes Banta,
McGee, Shinn, Frost; r.aya none, absent ~lm~ngef, burner. Carried.

Mx. Shinn brought up the matter of the proposed contract bet~reen F. E. Russill s.nd
the. City. After considE~rable duscussion it was moved by Banta, seconded by McGee that
said contract be laid on the table to the end of this year by the request of Mr. Russill,
Carried. heating and power
The proposed new electric light rates were next considered Moved by Shinn,
secarded by Banta, that it is the sense of the council that they approve the combined
cooking, lighting and heating rate presented by the Electric Light Committee, said
rate being similar to that used in ~dedfard. The vote was as follows: Ayes Banta, McGee
Shinn, Frost; nays none; absent Nininger,- Turner. Carried.
On motion the council adjourned.
