Ashland, Cre~;on, Nov. 4, 1918.
The council met in regular session at 8 O~cloc~: P.S~±. on the evening of this date.
Present ~ria~rrr Latrkin; Councilmen Banta, Shinn, Frost; absent McGee, Nininger, Turnex.
The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved as read
Reports of Street Commissioner Fraley and Judge Brower for the month of Oct. last
were read and, on motion, accepted anal ordered placed on file.
Bills 0. K.'d by the Finance Committee, and amounting to ~q~,5$7.97 were read in
total a~noiint only. I~~ction made: and seconded that said bills be allowed anti ~~va,rrants ordered
dravrr in payment thereof. The vote eras as follov!rs: Ayes Eanta, Shinn, Frost; nays none;
absent McGee , ~`in finger , Turner. Carried.
Co~amunic'ation from F. Smith in regard to insurance which he claimed he should have had but which was paid to the City,• on account of a. wall
bet~een his property and that of
the City recently da~aged by fire, was presented. Moved by Shinn, seconded by Frost
that this matter be left to th.® Realty Committee v~ith power to act. Carried.

Moved by Frost, seconded by Banta, that the petition bs laid on the table until the council

The ccuncil next proceeded to consider a propos~~~d resolution entitled "Resolution
gaanting the privilege of placing platform scales on Ash Street between Pion;:rr Avenue and Oak Street." The resolution having been read the first time,
on motion, the rules
were suspended, two-thirds voting; in favor thereof and the resolution was passed to the
second reading. Having been read the second time, roll call was ordered cn the adoption
of the resaluti~n~i1 Tha rote was as fol,.ows: Ayes Banta, Shinn, Frost; rays none; absent
McGee, Nininger, Turner.
Thereupon the T~ayor declared the resolution ado>ted.
Moved by Shinn, seconded by Banta, that the matter. of excavating that part of Ash
Street adjaeert to the property of H. G. Enders, that has been used as a park row and
~x~ aic!ewalk, ba .r.eferred to the Street Cormittee with power to act. Carried.

The rnirn~tes of the previous meeting were read and approved as read.
Councilmen McGee and Shinn entered the room and were ackno~vledged present.
Claim of S. V~. Clute amounting to X192.30, for construction of co~bcrete crossings s, was pr~eented to the •
on Fifth Street at C Street, both side council Moved by Banta, seconded by Froa~t, that said bill of X192.30 and the balance on the bill
of Oct. 28
~unounting to X76.32 be allov~ed and said amount be transferred from the ulster Sinking
Fund for such pu~pcsse. The vote was as follvwo~ Ayes Banta, McGee, Nininger, Shinn,
Frost; s'a`ys node; absent° Turner. Carried.
F. Russill addressed the council asking that the city pay him ~3.5A for moviaag
his phone, ha having been charged that amount by the Telephone Company. Moved by Nininger Sk~~n, seconded by Frost, that said '►~ill be allowed`
Carried.
T ~ The council next pxect~eded to consider a proposed City Ordinance No. 685 entitled
"An ordinance granting to Standard Oil Company, its successors and assigns, a franchise,
' right and privilege to construct, lay down and maintain an industry spur track of standard
~auga and td operate cars thereover with steam or other pourer, from a point of intersection
with the main line track of Oregon and California Railroad Uompany k 6ouznern raczzic
Company, .Lessee) over and across Mountain Avenue, within the city limits of the City of
Ashland, Oregon.". The ordinance having been read the first time, on motion, the rules
were suspended, two-thirds voting in favor thereof, and the ordinance was passed to the
second reading. Hatng been read the second, time, roll call was ordered on the adoption
pf'the ordinance. The vote was as follows Banta, McGee, Nininger, Shinn, Frost; nays
none; absent Turner. Thereupon the Mayor declared City Ordinance No. 685 duly adopted.
