The council next proceeded to consider a proposed City ordinance entitled "An
ordinance dividing the City of Ashland, Oregon, into Election Precincts or wards. The ordinance was read ~,nd referred .back to the City Attorney for
alteration.
The council next proceeded to consider a proposed Ordinance No. entitled
An ordinance to regulate the storage and handling of coal oil, benzine, gasoline,
naptha, and all other hydrocarbon liquids that will take fire and burn at a~ termera• R • f black- ooder nitra-

having been read the first
time, c►n motion, the rules were suspended, two-thirds voting in favor thereof anti the
ordinance was passed to the second reading. Saving been read the second time, roll
call was ordered on the adoption of the ordinance. The vote was as follows• Ayes
Santa, Nininger, Frost; rays none; absent McGee, Turner, Shinn.
Thereupon the Mayor declared City Ordinance No. ::.duly adopted. On motion, the council adjourned.

The council met in regular session at 45 0' clock P.M. on the evening of this
date. Present Mayor Lamkin; Councilmen Banta, Nininger, Shinn; absent &~cGee, Turner, Frost.

Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved as read.
Communication from the Ashland Fruit and Produce Association asking that the
council grant them the right to erect their new concrete warehouse flush with the `
street, thereby doing away with the sidewalk along said property, was read.
Mr. McGee entered the room and was acknowledged present.
Moved by Banta, seconded by Nininger , that the matt'r of granting the regi~e~t
of the Ashland Fruit and Produce Association be referred to the council as a whole
with power to act. Carried.
Reports of ~i~. H , Gowdy, Acting Judge of tYie City Court, and C. W. Fxaley, Street P
Cammissioner, for the month of Fab., 1.y20, were read and, on motion, accepted and
ordered plACed on file.
Report of E. R, Hogler, Water Supt., was read. Moved by Nininger, seconded by
Shinn, that this report be tur:~ed over to the Water Cammittee for investigation
Carried. Moved by Nininger, seconded by Shinn that the Water Supe-rirter~dent be
instructed to take the xiernaged wnotor used at the Lithia Spring to Medford and ii found practicable to have same rer~ound. T.he vote was as follows:

Bill of G. F. Aillings for premium on policy covering electric supplies in
warehouse on B Street, and amounting to ~3rj.o4, was referred to the Finance Committee
with power to act.
Bills O.K.'d by the Finance Committee and amounting to ~4,1g3.`?'j were read in
total amount only. ]Motion made and secanded that said bills be allowed and warrants
ordered drawn in payment thez~eof. The vote was as follawe: Ayes Banta, IVicGee,

Moved by Banta, seconded by Shinn, that the Recorder be authorized to transfer ,
~500.OC from Water Fund to Street Fund and ~50f?.AO from Water Fund to Fire Dept. Fund said amounts to bs cansidered as loans. The vote was as follows:

The council next proceeded to consider a proposed City Ordinance No. _1~~ 3
entitled "An ordinance dividing the City of Ashland, Oregon, into Election Prec ~Cts."
The ordinance was read the first time but no further action was tai{en.
Written opinion of Vin. M. Briggs, City Attorney stating that it would be im-
possible to get a city measure on the ballot at the primary election, was read*
The matter of the proposed reservoir in Ashland Canyon was next discussed.
Engineer Walker addressed the council stat-:ng that the City was not in a position to
vote bonds for this purpose at this time as no careful estimates and tests had been
made. Moved by Nininger, seconded by Shinn, that the City Engineer and Water Supto
proceed at once to rake a thorough investigation of the reservoir proposition and
such surveys and tests as may be necessary. The vote was as follows: Ayes McGee,

Communication from Cynthia A. S. Gilmore submitting a nuT•ber of names for the
new drive above her property, was read. Moved by Nininger, seconded by Shinr,, that the drive be officially designated Grand View Drive, as suggested
by ~lrs. Gilmore
Carried.
The following~resolutiane, adopted by the Ashland Park Commission at a meeting
held Larch 2, Ly20, was next read to the council: u~~

BE IT +'SOLVED, That the Ashland Park Commission hereby petition and urge the
City Council of Ashland to continue the extension of the Dill Street sewer up and
through the Park Grounds, and that the work be t~lcen up as early as practicable in
prder to have sewer axaomadations for the spring travel which will anon set in.

I~r. Nininger reported. for the Street Committee on the request of C.B.Frenc~~,
R. Yockey and others asking that a street be laid out and established. at a
point near the intersection of Grand View Drive and Wimer Str~:et, 9tatin~ that the committee recommended that said request be granted. Thereupon it
was moved by
Bang, ~eeonded by Nininger, that the City Attorney be instructed to prepare the
proper papers pertaining to the legal opening of said street. Carried.
Mr. Nininger brought up the matter of securing the services of M. B. Pinion
for cemetery v~vrk and stated that Bar. Pinion a9ks far X40. {?0 per month beginning
April lgt next. Mr. Nininger recommended that Mr~ Pinion's request be granted. Maned by Shinn, seconded by McGee, that the Chairman of the Cemetery
Committee be
authorixpd to hire l~r. Finion at X40.00 per month. The vote was as follows:

The Street Committee recor~nended that the council grant the request of the
parties living at 143 Granite Street for permission to build retaining Weill in front
of their property, said wall to cure around a tree On motion, Engineer Walker was instructed to make the necesary measurements and survey for. the
proper curve.
Councilman Banta asked that the council set a price on part of the Hartley
Tract recently purchased by the City. After some discussion the council fixed
the price at ~1,O0p.A4.+.he purchaser to be given reasonable terms at six per. cent
interest and the city to furnish a clear title. The vote was a,s follows;: Ayes
Bar:ta, McBee, Nininger, Shinn; nays none; absent Turner, Frost. Carried.

tract to the State, stating thRt the portion of the tract desired could not be used
