The council met putsuant to last adjournment at 1:3t~ o'clock P.M. on the evening of thi~~► date: ~ Present Mayor LaYlCin; Councilmen F: o st, McGee, Shinn; absent Banta, "~iniriger, Turner. The reading of the fili~nute;3 of the previous meeting teas ~ dispensed with. Report of G, M, Fro qt stating that he 3~ad cl.ec?ced the figures of the California- Oregon Power Co. in regard to the ~rncunt of :-materials purchased and found same to be correct, was read. Moved by Shinn, seconded by McGee gnat the report of Mr. Frost 'oe accepted and placed on file. Carried, The total amaurat of the bill of the C.O.P. ~o for material`and equipment taken over by the City of Ashland t~cae X12, 725.23 and ~5, OOO of this amount was paid the C.O. P. Co. July 24tH, 1919, ~~r. !dal+~her, representing said company, was present and agreed to deduct X324.;0 from the bill, on account of burned out tranFformers, .leaving a total of ~7,440.~3 due the California Oregon Power Co. Moped by Frost, seconded by McGee that the bill of ~~,4~J0.73 in final settlement of the Cali°ornia- Oregon Power Co. rs claim9 be allowed. Carried. engineer y~all;er addressed the council in regar, d to paving I.~ill Streit with bitulithic pavement and presented estimates of costs of pavement, 16, ?0 and 24 feet wide. V. 0. 1~T. Smith, Frank Jordan and J.J.Murphy were pre gent a,nd addressed the council in regard topaving gild street, recommending that 24 foot pavement be laid. After some discussion City Attorney Briggs read a proposed resolution ordering a. ,pecial election to be held rriday, May 21st, 1924, for the purpose of voting on bonds to defray the part of the expense of paving said street, to be borne by the City. s. Moved by ~.cGee, seconded by Frost, that 24 foot pave~tlent be inseEted in the reso- l~tion. The vats was as follows Ayes Frost, McGee, Shinr.; nays none. Carried.. Moved b McGee seconded bs Shinn ,y that the amount oy bonds to be voted on be fixed at not to exceed ~5ij00. The vote was as follows: Ayes Frost, '~!cGee, Shinn; nays none. Carried. Moved by Shinn, seconded by 1,dcGee, that the City Attorney be instructed to draw up a charter amendment in rc~;ard to paving mill Street. Carried. The council proceeded to confider a resolution ordering a special election to be held' Friday, May2lst, 1924, for the purpose off' sabmitt~.ng to the legal voters of Ashland, Oregon, a proposition to issue ~5,5Q(1 bonds to defray the Gity's portion of the expense of paving Mill Street.. The resolution having been read the first ,time, an motion, the rules were suspended, two-thirds voting in favor the--~eof and the resolu- tio7 was passed to the second reading. Having been read the second time, roll ca,].1 was ordered on the adoption of the resolution. The vote wa~c as follows: Ayes Banta, Frost, McGee, Shinn; nays none; absent Nininger, Turner. Thereupon the Mayor declared the resolution adopted. Councilman Banta brought up the matter or leasing; part of the City' a ground near the Park Gaz~age to ~1r. Moss, said ground to be used for parking cars and installing a service station. Moved by Frost, seconded by Shinn, that the matter be left to the council as a whole. Carried. Claim of H.A. Stearns amounting to ~ 42.44, fox time check cashed for an employee of tra street department, was presented. On motion, sans was allowed. Bills of Kittridge, Otto Mickel and A. Radcliffe for labor on reservoir were read. Moved by Banta, seconded by Shinn, that said bills be refer red to the ~la~er  supt. and wtLrraht~§'be Issued therefor Ashen O-Xl d by him. Carried.
