Moved by Shinn, seconded 'oy ~dcGee, that the Recorder be instructed to notify the Commission that the Council think it best to retain the bell at the Oak Street crossing rather than make a ~stap~~ crosding". Carried. ~~Iotion made and secor_dpd that the matter of selecting judges and clerks of election for the special election to be held Friday, ~'~ay 21st, 1920, be left to the :~~aJorand Recorder. The council met in regular session at 8 O'clock P.~Q• on the evening of this date. Present Mayor Larkin; Councilmen Banta, Frost, ~~cGee, Shinn; absent Nininger, Turner Minutes of meetings of May 4th, 7th and 8th last rare read and approved as read. Requisition of F. E. Russill for one mattress for use at the p©wer house was read. Moved by Frost, seconded by Banta that requisition be allowed. Carried. ~~ry~r• _Bang brought up the matter of renting the Hartley Tract on balker Avenue # to C. T. Payne. After some discussion it waq moved by Frost, seconded by Shinn, that the matter be left to the Realty Committee with power to act, said land to be rented subject to sale. Carried. _u Prof. I. E. Vining, E'. V. Carter and L~. D. Briggs addressed the council asking that the city enter into an agreement with one Jesse ~inburn granting him the right to use the surplus mineral water and gasses supplies by the Mineral water system for the pugpose of demonstrating and using the same for medical baths and medicinal purposes. between the City of Ashland and Jesse ~inburn A proposed agreement, prepared by E. D. Briggs, and covering the aforesaid matter was ` next read to the council. After some discussion it was moved by Banta, seconded by Shinn, that the contract be granted and the Mayor and Recorder authorized to sign same. The vote was as follows Ayes: Banta, Frost, McGee, Shinn; nays none. Carried. Moved by Frost, seconded by Shinn that the council extend to Mr• Vining their heart- ' felt thanks for his untiring efforts ~in behalf. Of the welfare of the City of Ashland. The vote was as follows: Ayes Banta, Frost, McGee, Shinn; nays none. Carried. Lynn Mowat, Secretar~t of the Commercial Club addressed the council stating that the hand"wad planning on putting on a number of concerts and asked that the council ffi;s~ean appropriation to help defray the expenses, Aski~.and's portion of which would amount to about X800.00. McGee brought up the matter of granting Mr. Stennett a permit to remodel.the building on East sin Street occupied by L. Gartner. loved by Shinn seconded by Banta that said request be granted. The vote was as follows: Ayes Banta, Frost, McGee, Shinn; nays none. Carried. On motion, the council adjourned to meet at the call of the mayor. Mayor. Attest: ~ x ecorder. Ashland, Oregon, May 2I, 1920. The council met at the call of the Mayor at 10:30 0' clock P.M. on the evening of this date. Present Mayor Lamkin; Counilmen Rants, Frost, McGee, Shinn; absent Nininger, Turner. The proposed contract between the City of Ashland and Jesse ~inburn, which was favara~~ly considered by the council at their previous meeting, having proven unsatis• factory to i~r. ~inburn, ~~r. Vining submitted a new contract for consideration at this time. Under the terms of the new contract Mr~ ~furn ig granted the exclusive right to the use of the surplus mineral waters and gasses as may be conducted from the several mineral springs through the Auxiliary dater System belonging to the City, for the period of twenty-five years.  After some duscussion, it was moved by Frost, seconded by Shinn that the council accept the proposed agreement and the Mayor and Recorder be instructed to sign same. The vote was as follows: Ayes Banta, Frost, McGee:: Shinn; nays none. Carried. On motion, the council adjourned to meet at the call of the Mayor. Attest: Mayor.
