Ashland, Oregon, lay 29, 1920.
The council met at 8 o'clock P.~d. on the evening of this date at the call of
the Mayor.
Present Mayor. Lamkin; Councilmen Banta, Frost, Shinn; absent M~c!~ee„ Nininger,
Turner.
Motion made and seconded thzt the council resolve itself into a canvassing
board for~the purpose of canvassing the returns of the special election held ~Iay
21st, 1920. The result of said canvass, after having bean duly made, was ascertained
to be as folloti~s:
PROPOSITION SUBMITTED TO THE VOTERS BY THE COUNCIL.
Shall the Common Council of the City of Ashland, Oregon, issue bonds of said city up to X5,500, to defray the City~s proportionate
pmt;°of expense of laying pavement, 24 feet in width, and appro-
ximately 1,200 feet long, on north end of Mill Street in said
City?"

Thereupon the Mayor declared the proposition carried. There being no further business, on motion, the Council adjourned.

The council metin regular session at 8 o'clock P.M. cr, the evening of this date.
Present Mayor Larkin; Councilmen Banta, Frost, Shinn; absent Nininger, McGee, Turner.
The minutes of the meetings of May I$th and 2gth last were read and approved as
read.
Reports of C.W.Fraley, Street Commissioner, and W H.Gowdy, Judge of the City
Court, for the month of May, 1920, were read and,on motion, accepted and ordered
placed on file.
Engineer's estimate No. 3 of amount due Oskar Huber on his contraa~t for paving
Pacific Highway on Boulevard and Ashland Street Extension was next considered by
the council. -Moved by '~anta, seconded by Shinn that tre Recorder be authorized to transfer ~~,500 from the Water Fund to the Highway Grading and
Paving Fund and the
bill Bqf the Oskar Huber Co. , amounting to ~7, 205.19, be paid. The vote was as follows:
Ayes ants, Frost, Shinn; nays none. Carried.
Moved by Shinn, seconded by Frost, that the Recorder be authorized to transfer
~1,b00.00 from the V~ater Fund to the South Granite Street Sewer Fund, said amount ,to
be considered a loan. The vote was as follows: Ayes Banta, Frost, Shinn; nays none. Carried.
Bills 0.~'d by the Finance Committee and amounting to X14,342."0 wire read in
total amount only. Motion made and seconded that said bills be allowed and warrants
ordered drawn in payment thereof. The vote was as follows Ayes B,_~nta, Frost, Shinn;
nays none. Carried.
Requisition of C. W. Fraley fvr supplies for use in the Street Department was
read. Moved by Frost, seconded by Banta that the requisition be granted. Carried.
Requisition of Water Supt. for supplies for the Water Department was ne~:t con-
sidered.Moved by Banta, seconded by Shinn that same be allowed. The vote vas as
follo~rs: Ayes Banta, Frost, Shinn, nays none. Carried.
Communication from Crane Co. quoting th~w~ City a price on 2,000 ft, 4" Matheson
pipe, was read. Moved by Shinn, seconded by Frost that said matter be referred to
the Water Committer with power to purchase the pipe if found advisable to do so.
The vote was as follows: Ayes Banta, Frost, Shinn; nays none; carried.
Request of R.H.~fcLean and R,A Taylor for permission to install a X10 gallon gas
tank in front of what is known as the Smith Livery Stable, was read. Moved by Shinn,
seconded by Frost, that the request be granted, the tank to be installed under the
supervision of the City Engineer and Fire Chief. Carried.
