On mot ion, said matter was left to the .Street .Committee. with power to act, The council next discussed the matter. of the offer of D,Pe.rozzi to deed the city part of his"property fronting on Mill Street provided the city~wbuld release him from paving assessment against his entire property. Moved by Frost, seconded by Banta, that k' the city reject the proposition of Mr• Perrozi. Carried. Engineex i~al'~er addressed the council stating -that the alley back of the city Ha1T is~ in ve~ bad condition and recommending that a wall be constructed to hold the property. ~doved by onto, seconded by Frost, that a co~nittee be appointed to confer with the property owners- and find what they are -willing to do in the way `of building a wall. Carried Thereupon- the Mayor appointed a~ such committee Councilmen Bantu, and Nininger. The matter of paving said alley was also discussed. Moved by Nininger, seconded by Banta that this matter be referred to the Street Committee with instructions to report at the next meeting. Carried. After some discussion, on motion, the Street Committee was directed to figure out a plan for parking cars. H. _ G. Enders Jr. addressed_ the council in behalf o f the Rogue River . wa~ley Band asking--that the City pay them at the tofu of ~~..OQ peg man for each concert a~~~.40 for the leader. He stated that Ashland's proportion of the cost would~be -87.00 ~~"j54a of which i s to be contributed ~by `the Co~imercial Club and asked -that ~ the City -contribute the balance, amounting to b00.00. After sore` discussion t~was~moved by Frost; seconded by McGee that the City pay the band their proportion of the ~~2~OC~ per -concert ,said concerts to continue for such length of time as the city sees fit; also -that the City allow the Band X50.00 additional, said amount to be used- far buyin~'musc, overhauling instruments etc. The vote was as follows: Ayes Banta, Frost, McGee, Nininger, Nays none. Carried. Motion made and seconded that the Re~arder~be instructed to draw a warrant for ~50.~J0 payable to the Rogue River Band, -at once. The vote was as follows: Ayes Banta, Frost, McGee, Nininger; nays none. Carried. Motion made and seconded that council adjourn. H; Pierce in the matter of widening North Main s Street at its intersection with the Plaza. x Present Mayor Lamkin; Councilmen Banta, Frost, McGee, Shinn; absent Nininger, Turner The reading of the minutes of the previous meeting was dispensed with. 7~~~r. Aftex considerable discussion it waq moved by Shinn, seconded~by Frost, that fir. Pierce be authorized on behalf of the City to offer Mr. Houck X6,000 cash for said property. '_~Y:e vote was as follows: Ayes Banta, Frost, McGee, Shinn; nay~~none. Carried. Communication signed by Dobbin Irwin, F.. A. Avery and- Nelda Cafe, asking that the the city grant them permission to paint the words "No Paxking" on the pavement in front of their places of business in order that a space might be reserved for taxi drivers, wa.s read. The City Attorney stated that the council could not grant the request, so ne arti~on was taken. There be ing no further business, an motion, the council adjourned.
