deciding on the matter as to the extension of the water plain from the top of Crowson e

I rnalce the follo~~ring report on the ex~,ension of water mains from the top of Crowson
Hill to serve `s►ater to property on upper west side of terrace Street dorm to property
owned by 's. Matson. . For Matheson Steel pipe a distance of 2.000' one half 6" and ape-half 4" pipe, in-
cluding all connections and labor digging trench and filline ~2,200.OQ
For wood pipe a distance of 2, 000' one-half 6" and one-half
4" pipe, including all connections and labor digging trench and
filling 1,400.00
Fora 2" black dipped pipe line from the top of `Towson Hill
to ter. McCoy's propecrty a distance of 1I00' including aI1 connections and Labor digging trench and filling y~00.Q0
The two 10 inch water mains that convey water to the City from.. the top of Crowson
Hill have about served their tune and will have to be renez~red, and when this is done
there c:::~n be one pipe line of Jarger size taken alonU the top of the high ground west
of Ter~~ace Street and run ober the Ropers Bunion, and by using a system of regulating
valves on this line can supply water to better advantage than the present pipe line.

l~~r. ===onto, as Chairman of the'~Jater Corcrnittee, made the following repo~tt which he recommended be carried out, namely; The two-inch wood
pipe from Crowson Hill to lir.
~"atson's propF~rty ,with the understanding that Mr. Batson will give a deed for pipe
line, On motion of ~~r. McGee the report of tie Plater Cor,~mittee was accepted and. the
zArork ordered done. The vote was a,s follows: Ayes Banta, i~cGee, Nininger, Shinn; nays
none. Carried.
~~r. Banta recommended purchasing four large timbers from ?sirs. !Nalker for use in
the first bridge above the intake at a price of X15.00. ~~oved by Banta, seconded by ?McGee that purchaUe be made. Cori^ied~
dlr. Banta for the Realty Committee reported having seen lt~r. Lanb about betting sand
for building purposes. lr~r. Banta recomrr~ended selling sand but r~~r. Lamb not being pre-
sent the matter was Ieft to be considered at a future meeting.

The reading of the minutes was dispensed with.
Motion made and seconded that the council resolve itself into a canvassing board
for the purpo sQ of canvassing the returns of the special election held Sept. 18th, ~
1g2a. Carried. The result of said canvass, after hava.ng been duly made, was ascertained to be
as follows
Sha11 the Common Council of the -City of .Ashland, issue bonds of said
city in such an amount as may be necessary, and not exceeding
~I00,000.00 for the purpose of bettering the water supply of said
City, and for the purpose of increasing said water supply by building a reservoir ar reservoirs in Ashland Creek Canyon?
