The council. met at 2 0' dock P.4u, on thi;~ date for the p~zrpose of discussing and deciding on the matter as to the extension of the water main from the top of Cro~vson Hill to serve water to property on upper west side of Terrace Street down to property owned 'cy fir. ~`Jatson. Roll call as foI].ows: Pr:;sent Co~anciLmen Banta, Nininger, 4cGee, Shinn; Absent: I~~a,-or Larkin, Councilmen Turner, Frost. Santa, as Chairman of the~'ater Committee, made the following repot which he recommended be carried out, narr~ely; The two-inch wood pipe from Crowson Hill to i~r. "'atson's property ,with the understanding that Mr. Batson will give a deed for pipe line. On motion of sir. rTCGee the report of the hater Corunittee was accepted and. the work ordered done. The vote was as follows: Ayes Banta, icGee, Nininger, Shinn; nays none. Carried, ~~r. Banta recommended purchasing four large timbers from ?firs. V~alker for use in the fir t bridge above the intake at a price of X15.00. Moved by Banta, seconded by ~~cGee that purchase be made. Carried. ~~r. Banta for the Realty Committee reported having seen ?:r. Lamb about betting sand for building purposes. ~,~r. Basta reco.~ntrended selling sand but ~Ir. The reading of the minutes was dispensed with. Motion made and s~conded that the council resolve itself into a canvassing board for the purpose of canvassing th.e returns of the special election held Sept. 18th, 1920. Carried. The result of said canvass, after having been duly made, was ascertained to be as follows: Sha11 the Common Council of the -City of .Ashland, issue bonds of said city in such an a~lount as may be necessary, and not exceeding X100,000.00 for the purpose of bettering the water supply of said City, and for the purpose of increasing said wra~ter supply by building a reservoir ar reservoirs in Ashland Creek Canyon? Thereupon the Mayor declared the proposition carried. ~_A~ r; The time having arrived for the opening of bids for the construction of cement sidewalk on Third Street, between B and C Streets, in the City of Ashland, Oregon, the Recorder procee~ed to read the follo4~ring bid: Ashland, Oregon, Sept. 21, 1820. 1{~~ 9~~ To the Honorable Council: T~.is i~ to certify that T will agree to put in the sidewalks on Third Street, between B and C Street, for the sin of 53.00, and the old plank from the walk. r~ (Signed ~ S. ~T. Clute, 91 ?~urse~y St. , ~evPd by rr~st, seconded by Shinn, that the bid of var. Clute be accepted with the exception of giving him the old plank, which the city does not own. Request of Pruitt- i~yers rotor Co. for permission to con~~truct an approach from paving to top of curbing for a front entrance to 1~ East fain Street, was next con- sidered. On motion, said request was granted, provided the approach is constructed o of wood. The council met in special session a,t the call of the =~ajror at 2 0' clock P,i~,T on this date for the purpose of considering a resolution granting ~Te9se ~Vihburn per- mission to assign his interests in a contract entered into with the City of Ashland to the "Ashland development Corporaticn", date of said contract being day 21, 120. PrPSent mayor Lamkin; Councilmen .Fro:~t, l~cGee~~ Shinn; absent Banta, ~~ininger, Turner. The resolutionhaving been read,~.an motion, the rules were suspended, tv►o-thirds voting in favor thereof and the resolution was passed to the second reading. Having been read thF: second time, roll call was ord~recl. on tr.e adoption of the revolution, The vote way as follorls , Ayes Frost, ~`cGee, Shinn; nays none. Pierce addressed the council a:~ teat they authorize a tele~rar;~ to be sent to the General Supt. of the S.P. Co. at Dunsrluir Co. asking that ~~aid co~cipany a,t once remove t~~e buildings on their lot on North ?Bain Street in order that the city ray proceed cfith tree ~ridFring and paving of said street. I~r. Pierce ~.l~~o asked that ~lans'b~~ made for f'or getting material on hand for the construction of the sidewalks ~~nd that the City Engineti~r rake the necessary survey.  On ~,iotion, dir. Pierce's request was granted and the City Engineer instructed to make the necessary survey and plans for said improvement.
