The council nest proceeded to consider a proposed resolution entitled " A resolution declaring the int,enti©n of the City of Ashlan'to widen the paving on North Main Street betta~een the Pla~~ end eater Street a.nd declaring the intention of said City to pave P~"ill Streot frorl the bridge at tho enc~ of the present pavement southerly a distance of approximately 12~ feet, vrith a 24 foot wide bitulithic pavement" The resolution having been rear. the first time, on motion, the rules were suspend.eu, tyro- thirds voting in favor the~of and the resolution w~,s passed to the second re~~.ding. The council next proceeded to consider a resolution entitled "Resolution declar- in~; the intention of the City of Ashland to construcfi, a cur~:~ on the westerly side of certain proposed paving on ~~ill Stre~nt.in the City of Ashland, Oregon: The resolution raving been read the fir t tirr~e, on r,~otion the rules vre~~e suspended, two.trirds voting in fa~~or thereof and the resolution eras passed to t~~e second reading. Banta brought up the matter of cutting off the p~:.rk in front of the Library and paving same and asked that a resolution be gassed authorizing laic. work to be done. The matter was discussed but no action was taken. at this meeting. Mr• B~Hnta addrf~ssed the council recommending that a number of water meters be purchased a.t this time. Loved by Shinn, seconded by Frost, that the Water Department be authorized. to purchase l0O meters for spring delivery, the size to be left t;o the ~ udgment o f the Commi ,tee. On motion, this matter was left to the ealty Committee. i On motion of i~:~r• Shinn, the StreE~t Gommissianer was authorized to excavate in front of the C~ty~s A Streot property and directed to remove the dirt to C Strc;et and to do the work at odd times. On motion, the Recorder was authorized to issue a permit for the erection of a building on t~~e Houck Corner. ~ir• La~~~in stated that Prof. Briscoe had requested that the tree in the alley back of the High School be cut down. On motion, this matter was referred to the Street Commmittee to report at the next meeting. Moved by Shinn, seconded by Frost that the Realty Committee proceed to close the deal with the County for the pertion of the cemetery tract, that they deliver the deed ~1e ~r~sh anc~ collect the money.
