Present Mayor Lamkin, Councilmen~Harner, Pierce, Shinn; absent Frost, Joy. ~inutea o f the previous meeting were read and approved as read. F ~~~r• Frost entered the room saying the reading of the minutes and was acknowledged present. -'-4 A coi~untcation signed by numerous property owners on Ohio Street protesting against the erection of a barn on the property of ~►r. W.A.Mills was read. Mr. Mille was present and addressed the council in support of hiN request. Mr• Frost stated that the Sanitary Committee had investigated the matter and recommended that a permit for the erection of said barn be not granted. Thereupon it was moved by Shinn, seconded by Harney that the request of Mr• Mills be not granted. Carried. P~~ayor Lamkin wag excused and Mr• Shinn took his seat as presiding officer. Bill of Eagle Meat Market in the amount of X14.10 for supplies furnished indgnent was next considered. On motion of Mr. Frost said bill was allowed. Bill of Harrison Bros. in the amount o f X141.3; for overhauling the city truck was presented to the council. Moved by Blake, seconded by Harney that the the bill be approved and ordered paid. The vote was as follows; Ayes Blake, Harney, Shinn; nays none. Carried Councilmen Frost and Pierce were excused from voting. Oo°~moto~n.`c~f 1~~. Fra st the bill of the C.O.P Co. for current furnished the City of Ashland during the month of Jan. , 1Q21 was ordered paid when presented and O.K' s by the Finance Co~mmi ttee. The vote on the motion wag ar follows: Ayes Bl$e, Frost, Pierce, Shinn; Harney; nays none. Carried. On motion of Dr. Blake the Recorder was instructed to transfer X225.00 from the Water Sinking Fund to pay the legal expenses etc. incident to the foreclosure of various propertie The vote was as follows: Ayes Blake, Frost, Harney, ~e~s Pierce, Shinn; nays none.Carried. Loved by Frc,st, seconded by Shinn th~s.t the bills O.K' d by the Finance Committee and a amounting to X3935.38 ~ be allowed and warrants ordered drawn in payment thereof. Mr• Frast reported on the request of ~'r<~nk Dean for permission to erect a garage near his property on Hill crest Avenue, r.ecomm~ndin~ that sard.~~re~t~est be graY~ted with the understanding that ter. Dean is to sign an agreement to move the garage whenever requested by the city to { do so. Carried. Mr• ~'hinn regnmm~nded that two lights be placed on Ohio Street, betv~feen Helman and Laurel and one light at the corner of Zanrel and Orange Ave. ,,r ~ ~ ~ ~ Dr. Blake reported on the claim of Mrs. Jennie 9~atson few~ount~.ng to ~7. ~C paid~~rfahe clear~~g sewer of tree roots, recommending that the claim be allowed. Moved by Blake seconded by Harper that said bill be paid. Carried. Iuionthly reports of W.~~~.Go~rdy, City Judge and C.W. Fraley, Street Commissioner fax the month of Jan.1921, were read and on motion accepted and ordered placed on file. Engineer Walker addressed the council relative to the proposed extension of Scenic Drive, also the proposed improvement of Terrace Street. Requisition of E.F..Hosler for supplies, amounting to X591.32 was next considered. Moved by Trost, seconded by Harper that said requisition be granted. The vote was as follows: Ayes Blake, Frost, Harper, Pierce, Shinn; rays none. Carried. Requisition of O.S.Easterling for a typewriter was conaid~:~red. On motion of Dr. Blake same was referred to the Electric Light Committee with the power to set, the vote being as follows: Ayes Bla~;e, Frost, Harper, Pierce, Shinnl nays none. Carried. The council met in special session at 11 Q' clock A.1~. for the purpose of considering a novice calling attention of the council to the Pact that Senators Hall and Everhard hac. intriduced abill to put alI municipal utilities under the jurisdiction of the Public Service Commisaior~ Af t~ some discussion it was moved by Brost, seconded by Shinn that the council through the Mayor telegraph Senators and Representatives at Salem, protesting against the passage of said bill. Councilman Blake entered the room.  The vote on the motion was as follows: byes Blake, Frost, Pierce, Shinn; absent Harner, Joy. Carried. On motion, the council adjourned. Attest: Mayor Recorder.
