Present iriayor g Zamkin; Councilmen Blake, Frost, Harner, Joy, Pierce, Shinn. j~iinutes of the rrevious meeting were read and arproved as read. A petition teas read signed by 88 }petitioners, as?~ing that the l~iayor and City Council take immediate sups to carry out the denlande of-the voters that a reservoir be constructed for the impounding of the water in Ashland. Creek, as e:.pressed by the voters in the special election called for that purpose. A general discussion followed participated in by J.H.Dill, F.C.Homes, the i4~ayor., members of the council and others, but no action was taken, . The hour of 8:30 o'clock Pall having arrived, the council proceeded with the hearin g of any objections to the report of the Viev~~ers making assessment of special benefits in the matter of the bitulithic paving imrrovement of ~i11 Street ox Park Avenue. the repof~~ of the Viet~ers'having been read, D.Perozzi and E.F. Smith stated that they ob jetted to their assessments. Upon being asked to state their objections, i~Ir. Perozzi asked that the hearing be postponed. Thereupon it ~~as move~~ by Shinn, seconded by Blake that the hearing be post~-oned to the next regular meeting of the council. Carried. Requisition of E.R.Hosler for su~,plies amounting to 5.85 was presented. i~ioved by Harner, seconded by Joy that same be allo~:red. Carried. Requisition of O.S.Easterling for suiplies amounting to640.00 was next considered. ~uIoved by Frost, seconded by Blake that said requisition be allowed. The vote on the motim was as follows: Ayes Blake, Frost, Harner, Joy, Pierce, Shinn; nays none. Carried. i~Ir. Pei1 addressed the council relative to the sale of a Jarmin Road Fixer and a tractor for the street department. Councilman Frost stated that the Jwrmin Road Fixer Co. declined to send their machine on approval. kftor some discussion ~n~~motion, the mayor was er~po~~ered to appoint a committee to look into the matter of road. construction, said committee to prepare an esti:aate of the cost of mprQvi~g the road in need of repair and to compare ~sme with the cost of the County roads, said estimate and report to be sub- witted to the council. Thereupon the hlsyor appointed the Street Committee as such special committee. sir. Pierce reported that he had investigated several indigent cases referred to him, and stated that ~;Irs. Davis, residing at 77 Fine Strut had been taken to the Sacred Heart uosrital and made a county charge. He reported airs, wicLo~,ell, residing at 763 B Street- as not in need of help. The council next discussed the matter of granting the re4uest of the Band that they ~ be allowed the sum of X50.00 per month beginning Feb. 15th. j:oved by Shinn seconded by Blake that the city pay the Band the sum of x50.00 per month to be used in~de~raying the j expensas~of leader,' the payments to eentinue as long as the Band is organized, but not to ~ exceed a period of twelve months, and to begin ti'~~hen the Pand resorts that services are being rendered. The vote -on the motion was as follo~~s: Ayes Blake, Frost, Harner, Joy Pierce, Shinn, nays none. Carried. i The matter of,putting up speed limit signs near the schools was referred to the Street Committee with pov,~er to act. ~ ` for the Haf~ks family The matter of securing aid F,from the County Oourt was, on motion , ref erred to the Indigent Committee.
