Communication from Bmil 1'eil reg~ riling the furnishing of steel for the d~:m eras read and, on motion of rrVoods seconded by Bergner, referred to the engineers. ,1- ~ u Dr, tiYoo~:s st~~~ed. ,tr.at the Realty Committee ~roulc~ ~r~selt their recommendations in regard to the sale of the City's lots at the next meeting. The City 1~ttorney reported that he arts Iaayor '~'hornton had intervie~~~:~ed the City Attorney of Portland regarding the passage of a bill prov~a:ng for the sale of tuber land in rshland Water Shed. He recommended that the ,City of I'ahl~~.nd assist in putting over Portland's bill and stated that Portland v~rould then assistn the City of ~~.shland in securing the passage of a similar bill. It ,vas moved by r~Joods seconded by Kay that the City Attorney and 'd~.yor co-operate vrith the Chamber of Commerce in getting our telegrams to be sent to '~J€.shington, the City to bear the expense thereof. Carried. The matter of building a sewer ors Garfield Street was referred to the Sanitary Committee for investigation and report. Moved by ~'Jhite seconded by Kay that the City I~ecorder be instructed to publish notice of intention to construct a se~,~~er from a point in the alle~~way north of the northeast cor- ner of i,ot 7 in Block 56, Saxman's Pennsylvania Addition to ~tshl~.nd, easterly along the center of said alley~-~ay to an intersection ~~rith the:=sewer main on ~~Iorton Strut. Tuesday, T~~iarch 20th, at 8 o'clock P.~~I` babe fixed as the time of the hearing. Carried. Carried. Councilman G~Joods suggected that before taking action to accept the bid a special meeting of the ~AJater Committee and ^ngineer be has to go over the proposed method of financ- ing. Y~"oved by ~~oods seconded by '~~nite that said meeting be subject to call of the I4a~%or. Carried. Councilman Kay and Secretary Harlan reported on tY~e airport Y~Zatter. Councilor€n Kay recommended that the City enter into a contract urith the Balfour Gutherie Company, provided ~ the Chamber of Commerce pledges its support. Roved by Bergner seconded by goods that the sA, P~~ayor ~.nd Recorder be authorized to sign the revised contract as presented by the B~~lfour Gutherie Company. The vote on the motion was as follows : byes Bergner, gay, Peters, i~hite, y~Jooas; nays none. Carrie. ~ 'e'ater Supt. ~,R.Hosler reported that the approximate cost of fencing the lower reser- voir would be X500.00.
