"~mm~'~n`iio``~n~"rom~E~`~ ~Sr`e''~'~n Insurance Ratin , Bureau was read statin that they could g g not sanction the' m~oVing of the fire alarm boxes from the districts ~rhere they are located to the City Hall without a readjdstment of the insurance rates. i'~oved by Banta, seconded by Frost that the Electric Light Committee and the City Electrician be requested to make an investigation of the cost of replaying or .rebuild in g the fire alarm system and. report at the next council meeting also that they be instx~zeted to take up this matter with the Insurance Commission to ascertain what the change in the rates will be if the present system is dropped and the city reverts to the telephone system. Carried. Requisition of the City Electrician for supplies amountin ~ to approximately X100, was presented. moved by Shinn, seconded by Banta that the requisition be granted. The vote was as follows; Ayes Banta Frost, McGee, Shinn; nays none; Carried. The council next discussed the mattex of cutting off the sidewalk at Peil's corner. Moved by Frost, seconded by Shinn that the City Engineer prepare plans for cutting off the sidewalk sbd'vridening the street at'~the corner of Park avenue and the Pla"a. The vote was ` as follows; Ayes Banta, Frost, l~eGee, Shinn; nays none. Carried. Councilman Banta reported that the special committee appointed to take up the matter of regulating jitney fares with the l~iedford authof~ities had been advised by the City Attorney that the City has no jurisdiction over fares outside the city limits. l~r. Banta also re,~orted that he took up the matter of rebating penalties on delinuent aswessments on the Grainger property c~rith the City Attorney and had been advised that the city could not legally grant rebates of this kind. It ,~r~zs moved by Banta, seconded by Frost that the City refuse to pay sir. Grainger for his potatoes in lieu of the fact th~:t he had free grater. Carried. 1~r. l~arske asked that the corner of Allison and Sherman Strut:: be cut off dnd thrown into the street and asked that the city move their pole near this ~~~oint. Van Natta the City's two lots on A Street. loved by Frost, seconded by Shinn that the matter be referred to the Realty Committee with power to act. Carried, . Banta brought up the matter of the collection of a X1.00 fee for all electric light connects and disconnects, stating that it was his opinion that this practice should be stopped or the ordinance amended. On motion of Shinn, seconded by Banta this matter eras referred to the Electric Light Committee for investigation. Carried. The Recorder was instructed to collect the ~r1.00 fee until the matter has been inves- tigated or the ordinance amended. The council met in special session at the call of the Mayor at 11 o'clock A.l~. for the purpose of decidimg on the paving of Forth j~iain Street in front of the Harrison Garage. Present iy~ayor Lamkin; Councilmen Banta, McGee, Shinn; absent Frost, Nininger, Turner. Councilman Frost entered the room. Moved by Banta, seconded by l~eGee that the City proceed at once to pave North lain Street in front of the new Harrison Garage in view of the agreement of Harrison Bros to dig out the soft places and to stand good far any repairs to the pavement in front of their property to the amount of X100.00 in case there be any u~ithin one year.
