Reports of the Street Cormissioner and City Jude for the m, ,nth of r4Fay, 1921, were read ard, on motion, accepted and ordered placed on file. 13i11g O.K' d by the Finance Comr~ittee, ar~ounting to ~5, 214. a0 were read in total amount only. Motion made and seconded that said bills be allowed and warrants ordered dra!n►n in payment thereof. The vote `^►as as follows: Ayes Harner, Joy, Pierce, Shinn; rays none. Carried. Rf;quisiticn of E.R.Hcsler for supplies amounting to X75.00 was nett considered. ~gotion made and ,econded that same be granted. The vote was as follow; Ayez Harner, Joy, Pierce, Sl~inn; nays none. Carried. The council discussed the mlatter of the proposed construction of a sewer on ~~~eade ' Street. It wa.s r~:oved by Joy , seconded by Harner that the City Engineer make an investiga- tion and t~d~i~~ the interested parties what the probable cost of the sew,,r would he. Carried l~r. Fierce reported that a State Health Officer had been hero to Ioek into the matter of the reported contamination of the city's water supply at Long's Cabin, a,nd stated that the State Board of Healtr: would handle the matter. The hour of ~ o'clock having arrived the council proceeded to consider bids for the sonstruction of a roadway frori a roirt vrhere Scenic Drive intersects Nutley Street southerly to an intersection with Strawberry Lane. :~,;I x 'r. A.D.Helms agreed to do the work for the sum of seventy-five cents per cubic yard. ~ This bid was accompanied by a check for X50.00. - ~z~ ~ y^. On motion of i~r~ Shinn both bids ti~r~re rejected and the Recorder instructed to R { ` return ~~r• Helms check,l ~~otion made and seconded that the City Engineer and Str~~~t Commissioner be instructed f t~~ to proceed with the construction of said roadway. Conner adc'~ressed the council asking that steps be ta_~en to open the road `3r ~ connecting Terrace Street and G;enview Drive. AftEr some di^cussion ~~dtdon waa made and 5 seconded that the city authorize the opening of said road and the Street Commissioner be instructed to build same as soon as practicable. Motion made and seconded that Terry Briggs & Co• be notified that tie City Council feels that it oannot legally gr~,:~t thi, request. Carried. Y~r. Carrie~~. T.~J.H.I~~~icNair complained of a drain pipe from the Natatcriu~ running through his pro- ~ perty on Oak Street and asked that the outlet be run through the drain on A Street. On motion of I~lr. Hamer the Street Comm.Tssioner was inst?~acted to change the drain as rPauested. rz ~ ~ x The Park Comr-lisslon asked that the City attend to irrigating t'_ne small park in front ~ ~ of t:~e City Hall. Moved by Shinn, seconded by Harner that the request be granted. Carried Frank Jordan proposed that the City allow the public to xerx~oTle c~:~nd and granite II .j ' from the Lower Drive in order to ~riden t.P road. On mat~.on of ~~r. On motion of lir• Shinn the City Electrician eras autlorized to Hake the Postal Telegraph Co. an offer of w1.50 per month. The Recorder next read a communication from dirs. 1~ary Neville p~~otcsting x against tre assessment of ~1~.00 and and further assess::ients that Might be charged against her property on account of the extension ~f Scenic .Drive.. in the Canyon ~~r. Holler repoxted that ?~e ha,d been unable to sell the vraod owned by the city for ~3.OQ per tier. On :~tion of l~~r• Pierce ~r~ Holler eras authorized to sell this wood for ~2, 50 per tier. ,X Tar. Shinn repc~~ted the renting of the city's lots used as a Woodyard to '"r• French at a rental of Y100.0C per year. f ~~~r Pittman asked that he be granted pay for his services at the Dunn fire on Laurel Street.
