erecting thereon a club building, After some discussion, the council deciued to investigate
' the matter a render a dUcision in a week,

Present ~~ayor Lamkin; Councilmen Frost, Harner, Jay, Pierce, ShirLn, ~.bsent Blake, M
~riinutes of the previous meeting were read and approved as read.
~ m the council proceeded to consider the report of the Board of Vie4~~ers r~~,king assessment
of benefits incident to tj7e construction of the road knot~m as the extension of Scenic Drive.
The Recorder also read a corr~lunicat ion from r.-. ~~ri. Barber ob' act ing to the assessment against
his property but stating that he would be willing to bear ~-100 0l the cost of constructing sai:~ road, On motion of 1~~Ir, Joy the report of the
Board of Vie~~.~~~ers was rejected arld the 4
Recorder instructed to notify interested parties by rn~il th~~rt the Council will actras a
Board of Viewers and hear any objections to their assessments on Tuesday, August lath.

The ]~adies of t~~~e Civie Improvement Club again addressed the council asr,ing that they
be granted a~tract of land fronting ?5 feet on ~~11i11 StrE'et fer the erection of a club house, - ~oved by Shinn, seconded by Frost that a strip
of land frontin feet on P:a,rk Avenue be
g 75 ' leased to the Civic Improvemient flub for a period of 25 years, said tract adjoining the land
leased to G,,~.Butler, the building to be erected thereon to cost not less tr~ar+ X0,000 and
to be erected within two years from the date of t:'le lea,sE c^.~nd that the' City Attorney be
instructed to re~are the lease `~rith rovisions similar to that ranted ~~r. Butler and the p ~ p g
1ti:ayor and Recorder be instructed to sign same,
~J~r. Joy aud~essed t'rze council stating that in his opinion the city should grant the
civic Improvement Club a lease for the same period as that granted 1~~~. Butler,
Aftor considera'~le discussion roll call ti~Tas ordered on the adoption of the motion and r
reaulted a,5 follows: Ayes Frost, Ha,,rner, Pierce, Shinn; nays joy, Carried.
The council next proceeded to consider a re~~,_~est of O,T.Bergner for permission to construct a wooden stair~,~ay on the north end of his building located

that this matter be referred to tale street Committee ~~~ith poT~ver to a,ct, Carried.
The receraer next read a communication from the Burroughs Adding ~~achine Company
4 offering to sell the City a I~,irroughs Adding ~~~ac'~ine and take tl7e old Vales on trade,
