Present Mayor Johnson; Councilmen Buxdic, Detrick, Hardy, Peters, Wiley; ~~~~t Wright. ~4inute.:>of the previous meeting were read and approved as re ~d. Cauncilman Wright entered during, the reading; of the minutes. Report of ~T.H.Gowdy, City Judge, far the ~~nth of February, 1x25, was read area, o1~i motion accepted. After same discussion it ~~,s r<ioved b~~ Burdic, seconded by Wright that the Recorder be instructed to pay as much as she ray see fit on the Che~~ralet car purchased by the Police Department. The vote rv~,s as follo?~Ts: Ayes Burdie, Detrick, Hardy, Peters, Wiley ti'~right; nays none, Carried, Report of the Auditing Committee, stating that they had examiined the accounts of the Treasurer, Recorder and Park Eoard, for the year 1921 arm found them to be correct, was read and, cn motion, accepted. Bills O.K'~ by the Finance Committee, amounting to ~7,g~+~.17, were read in total amount only, r~OVed by ~~'right, seconded by ~~iley that said bills be or:~ered paid. Mot ion made anal seconded that th~~~ salary of the Policy :T~adge be fixed at ~SO.~ per mont~, beginning February 1, 1825, and that an ordinance be draa~m in conformity with this notion. Requisition of the Recorder for office supplies was read and, on motion allowed, the vote being as falloti~s: Ades Burdic, Detrick, Hardy, Peters, ~~~iley, Wright; nays none, ThF; request of the City Trea:sur~~r for an increase in salary was discussed. On rr.comniendation of Detrick, motion w~~,s made and apconded trot the salary of the Treasurer be increased to ~50.O~J per month, beginning March 1, 125. The vote was as follows: Ayes Detrick, Hardy, Peters, Wiley, ~4'right; nays Burdic. Carried. pt~. Malone addressed the council regardin~p th+s condition of the pipe line from the power plant to the intake, stating that he t~uld have something definite to present at the next regular council meeting. Action on this maatter eras deferred to a subsequent meeting. ~{1a,ter The matter of replacing tie mineral/pipe line was discussed but no action was taken, Cauncilrr~an Wright reported that he y~nd Cit~r Attorney Briggs had met with Mellor, • in regard to a right of way through the Tatter's property for a ditch. He stated that Mr. Mellor intimated that he would settle for 2t~0, the City to assume responsibility for any damages that might result from the ditch. City Engineer and the Chairman of the ~~Otion w~:~s made and seconded that upon the O.K of/the Water Committees: the Mayor and ` Record~;r be authorized to sign warrants in payment of rights of way for the ditch. The Vote was as follows: Ayes Burdic, Detrick, Hardy, Peters, Wiley, Wright; nays none. Carried. The matter of vacating that part of Union ctre~t lying between Iowa street and Auburn street, was again considered. After some discussion it was moved by Fright, seconded by Detrick that said portion of Union "treat be `~cated. The vote was as follows; Ayes Wright; nays. Burdic, Detrick, Hardy, Peters, Wiley. The mayor declared the motion lost. The matter of repairing the pavement near the ~dinters property on the Boulevard ufas referred to the "treet Committee. 'I Moved by W`xight seconded by Detrick that the Ordinance Committee be instructed to investigate the $oning of the city and to report at the next meeting. Carried. The council next proceeded to consider a prnrosed ordinance entitled "Ordinance vacating Waite "tret~:t in the City of Ashland, Jacl~son County, Oregon, and directing the City Recorder to certify a copy of this Ordinance to the County Clerk of Jackson County, Oregon." The ordinance having been read the firer time, on motion, the rules were sus- pended, six noting in favor thereof, and the ordinance was passed to the second ruing. Having been read the second time, roll call cods ordered on its adoption. the vote was as folloVas: Ayes Burdic, Detrick, Hardy, Peters, Wiley, Wright; nays none. Thereupon the l~,yor declared Ordinance lJo. adopted. Tho council next proceeded to consider a proposed ordinance entitled "Ordinance directing the issuance of "Improversent Bonds of the City of Ashland in the earn of ~~,000. JO fox the purpose of purchasing and improving the "Chautauqua" Buildings and grounds, as authorized at a special election of the duly Qualified e~ctors of the City of Ashland, held  on the 17th day of February, 1925," The ordinance braving been read the first time, on i ~ e)~'1 ~e ~k ~y y .S,f a'-; motion, the rules werf; suspended, six voting in favor theNeof, and the ordinance eras passed to the secon~: reading. After ycr~e discussion it vvas ~~oved by Burdic seconded by Detrick that the Realty Cc~rr~ittee be instructed to look over the Chautauqua F~:ilding, FourtYl ct, Fire "tWtion Bldg., pioneer Hall and the Re-charging; station in the Park aria to submit a report as to tivhat repairs are needed.
