Bills O.K'd by the Finance Con~~ittee, amounting to 17~~.23, v~ere read in total amount only. ~rlotion made; an seconded that said bills be allowed an: warrants ordered drawn. in payment thereof. The vote was as follows: Ayes Burdic, Detrick, Hardy, peters, Wiley, Wright, nays hone, Carried. The hour of ~ o'clock P.iv~, having arrived the council proceeded with t~;e hearing cf any objections to the proposed vacation of a portion of California street. No one appearing to make objection thereto the council proceeded to consider City Ordinance No. X10 entitled "Ordinance vacating all that portion of California street, in the City of Asrlana, Oregon, ``sh~o~np in the map a~ plat o~ the George Tract filed for record in Volume 16 on Pages 67 and J~ Ol tl~I°v Jackson County, Oregon, Deed Records, ~~~hich is not a paxt of or included in Calif oxnia street as actually opened and deeded, and dir~::cting the City Recorder to e~;rtify a copy of this ordinance to the County Clerk of J~~ckson County, Oregon," The ordinance having been read the first time, on motion, the rules were suspended, six voting in favor thereof, and the ordinance was passed to th~~ second r~-ailing, Having been read the second time, roll call was ordered on its adoption. The vote was as follows: Ayes Burdic, Detrick, Hardy, Peters, wi ley, Wright ; nays none. Thereuron the r,~yor declared City Ordinance No. ~l0 adopted. On motion of Hardy seconded by Burdic the rules were suspended ana the council rraceeded to opE~l~ bi;is for the construction of cement sidewalks on Alida street. The following bids wer~= received: w. H. ~~aultby- 1~ cents per square foot. Micha-1 &Parks-.15.75 cents per s~luare foot. Frank Jordan- 22 cents per square foot. ~3 Moved by Buxdic se~cnd~~d by Hardy that tre bi~:i of w. H. Maultby be accented. Carried, roved by Hardy seconded by Burdic that the council r~>-opr~n unµer the hegular order of business. Carried. Request of F.R.Mexril~ for his vacation wasread and on motion, granted. Communication from "tevens & Koon offering the City their services as Consulting ' t, ~gineers was rE~ad ana, on motion, laid an the table. Requisition of C. A. Malone for a five panel switcrl board to be installed in the City I sub-station was presented. Moved by Detrick seconded by Wright that said rea~uisition be allowed. The vote was as follows: Ayes Burdic, Detrick, Hardy, Peters, Wiley, Fright; nays none. Carried. A comr~unication from the state Fire Marshal to Fire Chief Baug~~n was read in Which he urged the Chief to attend the meeting of the Pacific Coast Association of Fire Chiefs to be held in "cattle from "opt. 21 to c~pt. 2~ inclusive . On recommendation of the Finance Committee nation was made and seconded that the City do not send the Fire Chief to the convention. Ca~_°ried. Councilman Hardy brought up the matt~_~r of Mac~~~.amizing C street and requested that the City pay fox the grading. It was moved by Burdic seconded by Detrick that the stre~=t Department be authorized to do the grading, far C "treQt from Pioneer Avenue to Fifth ~'tre~t. The resolution having been rAad th~ first time, on motion, the rules were suspends=d, six voting in favor thereof, and. the resolution was passed to the second reading. Thereupon the Mayor .declar~;d the resolution adopted. , On motion of Hardie seconded by Hardy the matter of irt~roving High street dues referred to the s'tr~;~~t Corru~ittee for invest~.gation acid report at the next meeting. Carried unanimously. v Moved by Burdic seconded by Hardy that $150.00 be transferred from the Water Fund and 1150.00 from the Electric Light Fund to the Canyon Development Fund to take eaxe of the cost of the investigations.
