Bids for the lease of the Community Hospital v^rere opened at this time. :Motion made and: seconded that the council open under the head of Special Committee reports. Carried. The committee appointed at a previous meeting to take an inventory of the supplies and equipment at t'rle Community Hospital submitted a repor t. They stated that so:f~.r_as the inside of the building is concerned it is in as good shape as could 'ae reuUo-~la'uly expected. On motion of i~ardy seconded bJ Burdic the report eras accepted and ordere d placod on file. r~~Zoved by Hardy seconded by Burdic that the council return to the duscussion of the bids. Carried. I~ziayor Johnson addressed the council stating that he thought the hospital should be leasedd only to a graduate nurse. ~ The following; bids ~~~'ere submitted: ~ Zady from Grants Pass vvho asked that her name be withheld, ;35.00 per month for a period of three years. Dirs. 1lellie Loomis, X700.00 per year for a period of three years. Miss Jean Aitchison,600.00 per year for a period of three years. After one year agrees to pay more if the business warrants. roved by Hardy seconded by Peters-that the lo~.vest bid be returned to the b idler. Carried. i~ioved by ~~'filey seconded by ';fright that the community hospital be leased to ~~iiss Aitchison for a period of three years beginning Jan. 1, 196. After some diseussio n the motion was '~vithdrawn with the consent of the second. moved by ~~filey seconded by Nigh that t'r~e council reject all. bids. Carried unanimously. i~ioved by ~~~file,.;~ seconded by ~~iardy that the matter of leasing the Community Hospital ~ be left to the ~,~i~~yor as a committee of one vvlth poY~rer to act, subject, hoi~rever, to the ratification and confirmation of any lease which may be efyected by the Council at its next meeting. T.Z.Powell addressed the council asking that a y~ater main be laid to his grope rty on ~,%o~~nta,in 1~venue to furnish him with water for domestic use. ~~fter some discussi on was mot~d..,. b~` Burdic seconded by ,'fright that Iti'Ir. Pov}Jell be furnished kith j~rater for domestic ;1 use. Ca~~ried unanimously. the council next ze d a communication from F.,i.Cwrter ob jectin~, to the diversion of the drainage water on Alida Street. It was moved by Hardy seconded by Burdic that the matter of draining Alida Street be left to the Street Committee v~~ith ins tructi o ns to carry out the methods that they deem best. Carried. The ~:~equest of a numbor of citizens asking that Grant Street be improved w as next considered. It ~i~as moved by Higri seconded by Hardy that this improvement be ca rri e d out. Carried unanimously. I~,Ir. ~~fright stated that he had interviewed a nunber of people regarding Mir. rin ion and found that 'about as many were satisfied with his services as Sextion as there a re that have complained. He state,~~ that he ~vould not recommend the dismissal of ~~ir. Pinion at this time. lulr. ~,~f.B.Beebe addressed the council objecting to ~~ir. Pinion. After some discussion it vvas moved by Peters seconded by ~~zrdc that I;ir. ~~°ight's ropart be ac,~epted and fur. rinion be retained. Carried. The council next proceeded to consider City Grdinance i~o. $l emit 1 ed " An ordinance re ~uirinT the Recorder of the Cit of Ashlc.nd, Cre~~ron, to notify the County Assessor andgCourlty Clerk of the County of Jackson, State of Oregon, of all delin~iuent special benefit assessmen~~~s and docketed city liens together with interest and penalties thereon, as required by Section 2 of Article 12 of the Charter of t~:e City of nshlan~~." The of°dinance having been red the first time, on motion, the rules were suspended, six ,tioting in favor thereof and the ordinance was passed to the second re_~.di ng. Having been read the second time roll call was ordered on its adoption. The vote vv as as follow: dyes. ~3urdic, hardy, riis4z~~, :'eters, ,Jiley, '~frirht; nays none.
