Appli~'ation of the DeI3on Auto Company for permission to cross the si.aewalk at their new K sales room at 1'~ao. 153 East ~~iain Street was re~.d, l~,'r, E.G.High. T,ianager of the Company, ~ addressed the catiu~cil regarding the request. Carried unanimously. The hnu~• u~ ~ o'clock having arrived the council proceeded vrith the he~~ri~g of ~,.7~y objections to the hroposed construction of cement sidewalks on portions of LTnion, Fairview, Ioti~,~a, Sherman, H~r~°ison, Holly, ?~~~orton, Liberty, Henry, Beach, ''r'isconsin and :?shland Streets i~=' and I4rauratain Ave. and. Falm, Avenue, in accordance v~rith the notice published in the t~shland Tidings, data of first publication being Feb. SOth, 1926.T:." J.D.I~~IcRae, ~,s. L. Stockton, ~ R. D. Sanford, A. Freeberg, E.B.Hunt, J.B.Harrell, Val Snyder, E.B.Hunt, r~ss. Lock.~lart, A.~~.Beaver, J.IT.Beaver and others addressed fihe council protesting against the construction of said sidewalks. D.~~;.Spencer, yJ.D.J~.ckson and others spoke i~_~ fa.vor ~ ~ the improvement. Several remonstrances were filed by T:fir. Stockton. Several members of the council stated that A~ they thought this matter should be investig~~ted further before any o.ction t~ras taken. It was moved by Burdic seconded by Peters that the matter be laid over far further investigation. Carried unanimously. Councilman Taylor asked that the :rdinance Committee be allo~~red to hold over the ordinance providing for a City ~~anager. until the next meeting. The request `-~ras granted. A representative of the A.G.Zong Company ad~ressed the council regarding the sale of ~ ~~Y, fire hose, He stated he would charge no interest and allow tti~e City until next year to pay ~'k for it. Councilman Burdic stated he thought the matter should be put up for bids. ~q The Fire Committee reported they had agreed to purchase five hundred feet provided the ttrof 4 ma e payment could be arranged satisfactorily. T~.ylor that the City advertise forbids for five hundred feet of 2-~ inch hose on the best terms possible, the specifications to be inclined in the call for bids. Carried unanir~lously.
