The council met in regular session at 8 o'clock P.b~. on this date, Present ~f~ayor
Johnson; Councilmen Burdic, High, Peters Taylor,Wiley~ Wright; absent none.
~~inutes of the previous meeting were read ~,nd approved as read.

Report of the City ~llanager for the month of July, 1926, was read and on motion of
Wright seconded by Taylor approved and order~.d placed on file.
Bill of tha Ashland Chamber of Commerce, amounting to X218.51, for the City's portion
of the cost of the Auto Camp electric sign e.nd installation was presented. ~Ioved by
Burdic seconded by Taylor that said bill be held over far two ti~reeks. Carried.
Bills O.K'd by the Finance Committee, amounting to X8,637.80, were read in total
amount only. l~~otion made and seconded that said bills be allowed and warrants orderod
drav~m in payment thereof. The vote was as follows: Ayes B~rdic, High, Peters, Taylor
Wiley, ~~~right; nays Hons. Carried.
Requisition of C.A. ~~alone for one time switch, price X162.00, ~ve.s read. t►oved by T*. Taylor seconded by High that said requisition be allo~~ed.
Carried unanimously.
x Requisition of the City eager for fifty gallons of street marking paint was presented.
~goved by 'Kiley seconded by Peters that same be allowed. Carried unanimously.
~,~ayor Johnson presented the resignation of G.hq.Frost as City Judge. ~~o~ed by
Burdic seconded by Taylor that said resignation be accepted. Carried.
Resignation of C.A.~ialone as City tanager eras presented. loved by Burdic seconded
t~~~' by Taylor that the council take two ~~leeks for deliberation before acting on its acceptance.
Carried.
y ~ Resignation of Rose Petit as caretaker of the City dump ground was read and on motion
of '~i~right seconded by ~~iley accepted.
The City ~~ianager subm~.t~ed a verbal report of the earnings~of the Electric bight
Department from Jan. 1, 1925 to Aug. 1, 1926.
The City,~~anager also addressed the council regarding the digging of wells in the
Canyon. He stated he had talked to a well digger who stated he felt confident a 12-inch
well could be dug that would produce a~flo~v of 1000 gallons per minute at a probable cost , ~~a
of X6000.00. No action was taken.
Councilman High reported that the Street Committee had investigated the complaint
of l~~rs. ~~~~.E•Wood regarding the condition of her sidewalk on Laurel Street. They found
the walk could be repaired at a cost of X5.00 and recommended that the repairs be made.
Proved by ~'tright seconded by Peters that said walk be repaired. Carried.
Councilman Taylor stated that he found the dumpground in a very unsanitary condition. After some discussion regarding the purchase of a new dump ground site
it eras moved by
Taylor seconded by High that X50.00 be appropriated from the Emergency Fund for cleaning
up the dump Ground, said work to be done under the supervision of the Sanitary Committee.

roved by Taylor seconded by High that x,1300 be transferred from the Electric Light
Fund to the Street Fund as a temporary loan to tike care of the shortage in the Street
Fund, said amount to be repladed when the back taxes due the City shall have been received
from Jac4son County. Carried unanimously.
