Ashland, Oregon, Sept. 7, 1926.
The council met in regular session at 8 o'e~ock P.M. on this date. Present Mayor
Johnson, Councilmen Burdic, High, Peters, Taylor, Wiley; absent ~'nright.
Minutes of the meeting of Sept. 1st were read and approved as read.
Reports pf the ~'~ater Supt. and Supt. of the Electric Zight Dept. for the month of August, 1926, were read and, on motion accepted and ordered placed
on file.
The hour of 8:30 o'clock P.M. having arrived the council proceeded with the hearing
of any objections to the report of the Board of Viewers levying assessments in Sewer Dist.
No. 27. No one appearing to make objection thereto motion was made and seconded that the
report be approved. ~°~arz~ied unanimously.
Bills 0'K'd by the Finance Committee, amounting to X10,294.03, were read in total
amount only. Motion made and seconded that said bills be allowed and warrants ordered
drawn in payment of thereof. Carried unanimously.
Mr. C. E. Donaldson appeared before the council and asked that the council remit the
penalty due on his water rent for July. r.fter some discussion it was moved by Burdic
seconded by Wiley that the pealty be remitted. Carried.
Requisition of C. A. I4ialone for supplies for the Elec~ric Zight Dept., amounting to
X866.54, was read. I,~Ioved by Burdic seconded by Peters that said requisition be granted.
Carried unanimously.
Request of Elmer Smith for an increase in salary of X25.00 per month was next considered.
Loved by Burdic-sedonded by y'aile~y that said request be granted and ~Ir. Smith's salary
increased from160.00 per month to w175.00 per month. Carried unani~ously.
Councilman '~,ylor stated that the Finance Committee would .submit its re ort
p on th e matter of borrowing funds from the bank at the next meeting of the council.
The matter of painting and repairing the City Hall roof was next discussed.
rvlx'. Havens representing the Iaissouri Paint Co. addressed the council regarding .the paint to
be purchased for this job. I~~oved by Taylor seconded by High that the City use the i4iissouri Paint Co.'s paint in repairing the City Hall roof.
Carried. ~:Zoved by Taylor seconded
b y Burdic that RIr. Turner be employed to paint the roof at a cost of X10.00 for labor.
Carried.
Councilman Taylor reported that the Ordinance Committee would be ready to present the
Zoning Ordinance in two ~~reeks.
On recommendation of the Kecorder it was moved by Peters weconded by High that Mrs. Simons be granted free water and lights to Jan. 1, 1927. Carried.
Mr. Elliott addressed the council regarding the matter of providing a dump ground
for Ashland. Mr. Elliott was instructed to get his proposition in definite form and refer
same to the Ordinance Committee.
The City Attorney reported that he had been informed that the City could issue X500,000 water bonds andpossibly a larger amount but t~at~~rhen the amount
exceeds X500,000 the bonds~~~

Mr. Walsh addressed the council requesting that a sewer main be ~aid.on h~lountain Avenue
to accomodate his property in order that the pavement on the Boulevard v~~ou~.d not have to
be cut. ~'.`oved by Taylor seconded by ~~iley that Engineer Walker be instructed to investigate
and report back to the council.
The matter of increasing the water rents was next discussed but no action was taken.
Mr. Malone asked for ins truetions from the council regarding the data that is to be
embodied in his report on the water system. It was moved by Taylor seconded by Burdic
that Mr. Malone be authorized to close his report in the way he had in mind. Carried.
On motion, the council adjourned subject to call.
