Present Mayor Johnson; Councilmen Burdic, high, Peters, Taylor, Miley; absent ~Yright. ta~ Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved as read. ~~oved by Burdic seconded by Wiley that the Recorder be inst~:~ucted to write the State Board of Health asking them to send an Inspector to approve or disapprove the proposed new dump ground. Carried unanimously. The matter of the City's title to the r~Iurphy Springs was discussed and the City Attorney was instructed to look up the title. The council next proceeded to consider a proposed Ordinance entitled "Ordinance levying special benefit assessments against property benefited by the construction of a sewer in Set~~~er District No. 27 in the City of Ashland, Oregon." The ordinance having been read ~ the first time, on motion, the rules were suspended, five Toting in favor thereof, and the ordinance was passed to the second reading. Having been read the second time, roll call was ordered on its adoption. The vote was as follows: Syes Burdic, High, Peters, Taylor, ~Jiley; nays none. Communication from the State Board of Health relating to the proposed dump ground site was read axed ordered pl«,ced on file. Moved by Burdic seconded by High that the Recorder be instructed to publish notice of intention to construct s se~A~er in SetiFrer District No. 28. Carried unanimously. Moved by Burdic seconded by Peters ±hat the Recorder be instructed to p~8blish notice of intention to construct se~trer in Sewer District No. 29 on Coolidge St. Carried unanimously Moved by Taylor seconded by Burdic that the City Attorne~r be instructed to prepare a resolution authorizing the council to borrow not to exceed X3,500.00 at not to exceed six per cent interest to take care of the deficiency in the Street Fund. Carried unanimously. ~~r. C. A. Malone presented his report of appraisal and estimates for the improvement P of the water distribution system. The report ti~fas accepted but consideration and anaysis r{,. thereof postponed to a special meeting. The council next discussed the matter of buying a 20 ft. strip of land from dirs. Fay and of reaching some agreement regarding the bridge which she claims the city has built on her property. This matter was referred to the City Attorney and City Engineer for investigation and report. ~~r< Pk~oved b Taylor seconded by Peters that .the Recorder be authorized to pay Calvert, Calvert and ~chroeder X1,527.33, the City's portion of the cost of constructing cement E x~; sidewalks, curb and gutter in SidelF~alk District No. 3. Carried unanimously, Yip r~~otion made and seeon~ed that the m ~~es be suspended and the council pass to the ordinances and resolutions. Carried. 5_ The council next proceeded to consider an ordinance entitled "Ordinance authorizing the issuance of City Improvement Bons in the matter of laying cement sidewalks curbs and niters in what has been designated as Sidewalk, Curb and Gutter District r`Io. 3. .The ordinance having been read the first time, on motion, the rules were suspended, six votiing in favor thereof, and the ordinance was passed to the second reading. Having been read the second time, roll cell was ordered on its adoption. The vote was as follows; Ayes Burdic, High, Peters, Taylor, Wiley, ~'Jright; nays none. Thereupon the ~;iIayor declared City Ordinance No. 834 adopted. _ _  The City Attorney reported that he found the City has a perpetual right to the eater from Murphy Strings but has no deed to the land. Afte:° some discussion the City Attorney was instructed to investigate as to the cost of purchasing the Citizen's Bank's interest in 1111urphy Springs and to report back to the council.
