~~shland, Oregon, Sept. 28, 1926.
The council met at the call of the T,~ayor, pursuant to l~:st ~.djournment, at 7:30
o'clock P.1~2. on this date. Present T~Rayor Johnson; Councilmen Hardie, High, Peters,
Taylor, uViley, 1'Jright; absent none.
T~inutes of the meetings of Sept. 21st, 22nd, 25th and 27th were read and approved
as read.
After some discussion it was moved by ~'dright seconded by u'~iley that 1.~r. Dillar~ be
authorized to go over the figures of IBS. T,~Tclsissick and x. ti'~alker and to prepare an esti-
mate of the cost of building a reservoir at the Patterson site, the matter of digging
R test pits to be optional with ~Ir. Dillard. Carried unanimously. K`
The council nex~, proceeded to consider an ordinance entitled "Ordinance amending
Section 14 of Ordinance No. 785 of the City of Ashland, J~.ckson County, Oregon, in order to prescribe the manner of refez~ring charter amendments
or measures to the people, by the
Council, at a general election." ~lhe ordinance having been read the first time, on motion,
the rules were suspended, six voting in favor thereof, and the ordinance was passed to the ~~;,u second reading. Having been read the second time,
roll call was ordered on its adoptioh.
The vote was as follows : Ayes Burdic, High, Peters ~ Taylor, ~~iley, 'rdright; nays none.
Thereupon the 1~~~~ayor declared City Ordinance T1o. 835 adopted.
The council next proceeded to consider a resolution entitled "Resolution requiring the City Recorder of the City of Ashland, Oregon, to cause to be
placed on the official
r ballot for the general election to be held on the 2nd day of iV~ovember, 1926, a ballot
title calling for an expression of the electors of the City of Ashland as to whether said
electors approve the purchase of two hundred additional acre-feet of water from the
~ ~ Talent Irrigation District, at a cost of approximately X22,000.00." The resolution having
been read the first time, on motion, the rules were suspended, six voting in favor thereof x
and the resolution was passed to the second reading. Having been read the second time, roll call s~~ras ordered on its adoption. The vote ~~~ras as
follows: Ayes Burdic, High,

Thereupon the as yor declared the resolution adopted.
The council next proceeded to consider a resolution entitled "Resolution proposimg
an amendment to the charter of the City of Ashland, Jackson County, Oregon, to be known
as Article X~IV of said charter, authorizing; the la~`ayor and Common Council of the City of Ashland, Jackson County, Oregon, to issue bonds in
a sum not in excess of ~~450,000.00.
as hereinafter described, for the purpose of providing funds with which to construct
a dam or reservoir in Ashland Creek Caa~yon at site to be determined by the T~~ayor and
Common Council, and for the making of improvements or betterments to the distribution
works and .lines of the water system of said city; providing that such proposed charter
amendment be submitted to the electors of said city, for their approval or rejection, at
the general election to be held on the 2nd day of T~iovember, 1926, and furthez~ providing

The council nest ~~roceeded to consider a resolution entitled "Resolution proposing an amendment to the charter of the City of Ashland, Jackson County,
Oregon, to be known
as article 1~XV of said charter, authorizing the ':ayor and Common Council of the City of
Ashland, Jackson County, Oregon, to issue bons in a sum not to exceed y~15,000.00, as
hereinafter described, for the purpose of providing funds v~rith v~hich to reconstruct the
pipeline and distribution system of the Zithia Springs 1`a.uxiliary 'dilater System, provid-
ingthat such ~roposed charter: amendment be submitted to the electors of said city for their
a~~roval or rejection, at the general election to be held on the 2nd day of T~ovember,
. 19`;6; and further proviaing a ballot title for said measure." The resolution having been re~.d the first time, on motion, the rules were suspended,
six voting in favor
thereof, and the resolution was passed to the second redoing. Having been read the second
time, roll call was ordez°ed on its adoption. The vote was as follows: Ayes: Burdic,
High, Peters, Taylor, Wiley, Wri~;ht; nays none.

The council next proceeded to consider a resolution entitled ''Resolution proposing an amendment to the charter of the City of Ashland, Jackson County,
Oregon, to be known
as 1'irticle ~XVI of said charter, authorizing the Mayor and Common Council of the City of
Ashland, Jackson County, Oregon, to issue bonds in a sum not to exceed 58,000.00 as
hereinafter described, for the purpcse of providing funds ti4rith which to purchase
additional fire fighting equipment fo~':the said city, such equipment to include a new
ch8mical motor truck ana additional fire hose; proviaig that such proposed. charter
amendment be submitted to the electors of said city for their approval or rejection, at the general election to be held on the 2nd day of vovember,
1926; and. further providing
a ballot title for said measure." The resolution having been read the first time, on
motion, the rules were suspe~ld.ea, six voting in favor the:"eof, ana the resolution was
passed to the second reading. Having been read the second. times roll call was ordered
