The council met at the call of the I~tayor at 8 o'clock P.TI. on this date. Present P~~~ayor Johnson; Councilmen Burdic, High, Peters, Taylor,
Wiley, V~iright; absent none.

On motion, the rules were suspended, and the council opened under the head. of un-
i finished business.
The City Engineer presented the follovring communication: ' Ashland,Ore.,Oct. 1, 1926.
I hereby certify that all sidewalk, curb and gutter t~~ork done by Calvert, Calvert ~
Schroeder under contract dated April 24, 1926, with the City of Ashland, is completed
and satisfactory to me anti should be accepted by the Council, sub ject to the provisions ~
of paragrapg 2 of the specifications making the Contractor liable for any defects which
may appear in said. work for a period of one year.
Total amount of contract amounts to X1,527.33 for City's part and w28,905.34 for F° s
frontage other than that of the City of Ashland, making a grand total to the contractor of X30 , 432.67.

Calvert, Calvert ~ Schroeder under their contract covering Sidewalk Curb ~ Gutter District
No. 3, provided, that saki contractors and. their bondsmen shall be held to continued res-
ponsibility under the provisions of Paragraph 2 of the specifications making the Con- tractor liable for any defects which may appear in said work for
a period of one year. The

for the month of Sept., 1926, and report of G. G• Eubanks, City Treasui°er, for the quarter
ending Sept. 30th, 1926, were read and, on motion, accepted and ordered pl~,.ced on file. ~ 3.

The council next considered a communication from 0. F. Carson asking that the penalty
on his delinquent sidewalk assessment be remitted. 1'~loved by Burdic, seconded by High that ~
the ~,enalty on ~Ir. Carson's assessment be rebated. Carried unanimously. E i
Bills O.K'd by the finance Committee, amounting to X5,180.46 were read in total amount
only. i~Iotion made and seconded that said bills be alloyed arld warrants ordered drawn in 'j payment thereof. Carried unanimously.
Engineer 'r'~alker reported that he had investigated the complaint of liss. ~i'yg~.ll
regarding the sanitary conditions on haurel Street near her property, and he was of the
opinion that by moving the building complained of farther back on the property, the condi-

The hour of 8 0' clock P.P~,r. having az°rived, the council proceeded with the hearing
of any ob jedtions to the construction of a seiner in Seyer District No. 29, Igo one appear- ~
ed to make objection thereto.
The council text proceeded tiwith the hearing of any objections to the proposed con-
struction of a set~rer in Sev~►er Dist. Tyo. 28. No interested property o~mers tiFrere present. d
After some discussion it was moved by Taylor seconded by high that the ridings be
authorized to print 1600 additional copies of tree issue of Oct. 6th ~{nd that the arrange-
, ! menu for mailing be left to I~~ir. Read ar~d i,,~iss Biede. Carried. ~

On motion, the Recorder vas authorized to transfer ;113.38 from the Sidewalk Bond
Redemption Fund to Curb ~ C=utter Bond Red. Fund to cover an overdraft.

for bids for Improvement Bonds Nos. 840 to 881 inclusive. l~iond~i.y, Oct. 11th at
8:30 o'clpckP.M. wa,s fined as the time for opening of the bids. Said bids to
be accompanied by a certified check for an amount eo~ual to 5 per cent of the value of the bads bid for.
The council next proceeded to consider a resolution entitled "Resolution
declaring the policy of the T~~~ayor and Common Council as regards the making of improve-
ments to the ureter supply and water system of the City of Ashland, in cage the "Water
Bond amendment' is voted upon f~~vor~~bly at the ~'y`ove~lber general election." The resolution
having. been read the first time, on motion, the rules tirere suspended, six voting in favor thereof and the resolution tiaras passed to the second
reading. Having been read the
second time, roll csll was ordered on its adoption. The vote way as follows: Ayes
Burdic, High, Peters, Taylors ti`Jiley ~~right; nays none.
Thereupon the ~~~yor decl~.red the resolution adopted.
The council next proceeded to consider an ordinance entitled "Ordinance requiring
the transfer to the Street Fund on the first day of each anu every month, hereafte~, f beginning with the first d~~y of October, 1926, of ten
per cent of the gross recelp s o
the electric light department for the preceaing calendar month," The ordinance having
been read the first time on motion of Taylor seconded by Burczic it `,Tas referred to the
electric bight Committee and F. hi~;ht Supt. ~~rith instructions to investigate and report
back to the council at the next meeting.
Bngineer ~~alker recommended that the City employ ~41r. Ira Williams, a geologist
who is to be in this vicinity, to make a ~:°eport an the rock conditions at the different dam sites in the canyon. After some disemssion it was
moved by Taylor seconded by High
that the City get j}~lr. Williams services if they can be had for approximately w50.00

The matter of purchasing a portion of I47rs. Fay's lot was next discussed provide f'or the

The hour of 8 o'clock havin~P arrived, the council proceeded to open the bids received for Ashy-nd, Oregon Improvement Bonds duos. 840 to 881, both
inclusive.
The following bids ~~rere received:
humbermen's Trust Co. Bank- w1013.00 and accrued interest to date of delivery
to them for each ~1000.U0 par value of bonds.
Ralph Schneeloch Co.- X102.95 and accrued interest from date of bons to date of delivery for each X100.00 par value of
b ones .
