In the absence of the ~~ayor Councilman Thornton was elected temporary Chairman of the council. Moved by Peters seconded by Woods that all appointments be r$tified. The vote on the ~4 motion was as follows: Ayes Bergner, Kay, Feters~ Thornton, White, Woods. Carried. ~~onthly report of the Supt. of the Electric Department and quarterly repow-°ts of the Sexton of Cemeteries and City Treasurer were read and, on motion accepted, Bills O.K'd by the Finance Committee~i~~.amounting to X8,046.17, were read ih total amount .only. l~~otion made and seconded that said bills be allowed and warrants ordered drawn in payment thereof. Malone for supplies for the Electric Department, amounting to ~1 489.04, was read and, on motion, referred to the Electric bight Committee with power to act, S The matter of purchasing .a small strip of land for the extension of Henry Street was discussed and on motion referred to the Street Committee for investigation and report at the nett meeting. to July 1, 1927 2 On motion of Thornto~l, seconded by Peters ~ free lights and ~,Tater~were granted the 2 following named persons: ~~rs. Pence to sell the City a five acre tract of lana for a dump ground was presented by the Recorder and on motion of Thornton seconded by Kay referred 3 to the Realty Committee to act in conjunction with the Sanitary Committee and report back to the council. i Loved by Thornton seconded by Woods that the council proceed to advertise for bids for pipe and fittings for the new Disi~~ibution System in accordance with the Engineer's report, bi~.s to be opened at 8 o'clock P.R~i. January 2~th. Carried unanimously. _..a The council next proceeded to consider an ordinance entitled "An ordinance providing for and fixing the salaries and compensation of elective and appointive officer s of the City of Ashland, Oregon, {'or the year 1927." The ordinance having been read the first time, on motion, the rules ~dere suspended, six voting in favor thereof, and the ordinance was passed to the second reading. Having been read the second tune, roll call was ordered on its adoption. The vote ~~as as follows: Ayes Bergner, Kay, Peters, Thornton, ~lhite, Moods; nays none.
