Councilman Woods addressed the council asking that the Mayor issue a proclamation
setting aside the last week in February as hlarcotic Education ';leek, and asking that the
various organizations and churches take up the subject. rryoved by Woods seconded by Thcrnton that the I~~ayor be requested to issue said proclamation,
as requested, setting
aside the last week in February as T~arcotic Education `~~eek. Carried.
On motion, the council adjourned subject to call.

The council met at the call of the ~~layor at 12;30 o'clock A.1~~. on this date. Present
%~~ayor Pierce, councilmen Bergner Kay, Thornton, ►~Jhite Woods; absent Peters.

Ra~. ! pare a deed to J. E. Williams, a widower, to convey a certain tract or strip of land now

Beginning at a paint 44O feet south of the northeast corner of the
' northwest quarter of the southeast quarter of the southwest quarter
of Section 11 in Township 39, South of Range 1 East of Williamette
~wLeridian, Oregon; thence wrst 224 feet, thence north 96.4 feet;
thence east 224 feet; thence south 96.4 feet to the place of beginn-
~k: ing, excepting from the foregoing a strip of land 30 feet in ~ri~.th 3 along the east side not~r used for road purposes. The foregoing
tract contains 18700 square feet without the 30 foot strip for road.
also to prepare a deed conveying from J. E. Williams to the City of l~shland a certain
strip of land located in the ravine and on the side hill adjacent to the dump ground
property, described as follows:
Beginning at a point 297 feet west of the north east corner of the ,
' northwest quarter of the southeast quarter of the gauthwest quarter
of Section 11 in Township 39 South of Range 1 East of the Willia- mette i~~eridian, Oregon; thence south 440 feet; thence crest 67 feet;
thence north 6 degrees 21 minutes East 442.7 feet; thence east 18
feet to the place of beginning, containing 18700 square feet.
C No money consideration to enter into the transaction, both parties to the deal having
agreed to an even exchange of their properties. The vote on the motion was as follows:

~'~oved by Bergner seconded by Woods that the City enter into a contract vrith C.A.
Dodson to move all trash and garbage on the City's dump ground to the gully and to pro- :
perly cover the same with dirt, the work to be completed by June 1st, 1927, l~.r. Dods n to
be entitled junk copper etc, and to remove all salvaged material by J~.ly 1: 1927.
The t~tal amount to be paid ~;~r. Do~.son to be.~400.00, said amount to be paid at the rate
of X5,0 of the amount due on the first of each month the amount to be determined by the
Sanitary Committee, 25~ to be held until the completion of the ~srork and to be retained by l7 the City in-case Mr. Dodson fails to complete his

~p~oved by 'goods seconded by ~a~Ihite that ~~lr Dodson be hired to take care of the dump
ground at the rate of X10.00 per month beginning Feb. 1, 1927. Carried.
Moved by Thornton seconded by Kay that thr matter of buying drain pipe and installing
same in the dump ground be left to the Sanitary Committee with po~ver to act. The vote
on the motion was as follows : Ayes, Bergner, Kay, Thornton, '~~Jhite, Woods, nays none. ~

A communication from J. Wr McCoy Z"Tt_s next read asking that the council correct an
error in the deed to ~~~r. Woods for a tract of land sold him by the City. On motion of 20 ~
Woods seconded by Thornton this matter was referred to the City Attorney for correction.
~~ayor Pierce presented the request of the Chief of Police and Fire Chief asking that
the City pay their Expenses to attend the meeting of the Law Enforcement League in Eugene
on I'eb. 14th. After some discussion it was moved by k~ay seconded by ~~~oods that the City allow their gas and oil expense on this trip. Carried.
