addressed the Couslcil regarding their plans for the musical ~~'estival to be held in Lithia F ' Park on June 11th. They asked that the Council
co-operate 1=TitYl them in r~laking tYza event '
a success any. that they grant them the use of teams and a force of men to help bring in
trees to be used as a ba~kgroL~rld for the chorus. llso, that ~k;s. ~P~a.lone take charge of
thy; lighting for the eves;ing. It was moved by Ber~~ner seconded by lriorzltor~ that the
various departments affected be ~rlaced at t;he disposal of the Faculty, the ti~~rork to be done under the supervision of the engineer, U-old that the
Chairmen of the various comr~~ittees

~ Attorney J. lw~oore, representing the ~'ru~s.tees of t,~~e ~~oot estate, stated that he
{ ha~rA ~nrepared the necessary deeds to the property pug°ch~.sed by said Trusties for the City ~FK
~r of Ashland for ~par~ purposes, and that he wished to turn s~-yid deeds over to the City <-~t
lU'~ this time. ale stated that the ~l'rustees recor~mend that the f3ungalotill building be ~~r~t~~~ed
a~c~nthat said propel°ty be '~ea~.tified ~.s soon as passible by the planting of trees and
shrubs ,and that no tool house or garage be placed or~ the property.
The council nest proceeded to consid;r a resolution entitled "F.esolution accepting ~x
A deeds of canvey-nce from the trustees of the C.G. Root Jstate, C~, expre ;sing the appre ro
ciation of the City for same." The resolution having been read the first time, on motion,
the rules wer4 suspended, five voting in favor thereof, and the resolution was passed
to the second reaa.Laving been read the se-cond time, roll call was ordered on its
adoption. The vote vvas as fold07,"s: `yes Bergner, Kay, Peters, Thornton, it e, nays
none. Thereuz)on the iuLayor declared the resolution adopted.

Attorney u'r. J. ~.7oore brought up the matter of the license on pool tables stating
that he thought the license too high, and asked that come committee be appointed to
investigate the matter and make recommenda~,ion to the council as to the amount that IUS
s.ould be charged. After some discussion it was moved by Thornton seconded by ~~a.y that
the City rttorney be instructed to prepare an amendment to the pool roam ordinance
making the license fee ~~7.50 per table per year.. Carried.
The recuest of T~~r. Purfee regarding the se~~~~ering of his propert~,t on Penn. eve. -
~vas refer°-~~ed to the Sanitary Committee and City Engineer for investigation any. report. 101
the City Attorney read ordinances goverm~.ng the operation of the dump ground and
granting a fralchise to C. A. Dodson for taking care of the garbage in the City.
i;. ~5. ~.L~~ach, Dep~.ty Dairy and Food Commissioner ti°,r~s present and ad~ressed the council
regarding the matter of garbage disposal. !tf ~,er same discussion it wu.s moved by Thornton (0`~ seconded by Bergner that the matter be referred to the
Sanitary Committee to bring in in
the proper shape to act upon. Carried. ~
Reports of C . A. Dodson and C . A. ?~::alone for the month of ~~~ay, 1927, were read and,
on motion, accepted and ordered placed on file.
Claim of P~. F. and J.R.Bayliss for z}100.00 for damages caused by water from Lithia Pipe Line running over alfalfa fie~.d and killing about one acre
of alfalfa was read and,
on motion of Thornton, seconded by ~~~ay, referred to the dilater Committee for investigation.lOg
Bill of the Talent Irrigation District for maintenance charge arr~ounting to x;1,466.40
eras presented and on motion of Bergner seconded by Thornton refe_ red to the City 10~
Attorney for checking and repot°t.
Bills of 0. T. Bergner for compiling water records for use in adjusting rates and
for designing system o;f cost accounting, amounting to X192.00 and x'84.00 respectively
were read and, on motion of u~hite seconded by 11ay, allowed.' ~nd~: ordered paid. all voting
in favor thereof.
Bills O.K'd by the Finance Committee, amounting to X22,506.03 were read in total

Petition from 28 citizens asking that the council take some action in regard to
repairing the pavement on Third Street betvaeen B and C Streets, was read. The 4~dater I10
Supt. having stated that new pipeshould be installed in order to remedy this condition,
no action was taken on the petition at this time.
The 'u`Jater Supt. submitted prices on ttivo different sizes of pumps ar auth~natie .water
systems and z•~commended that the urger ~>ump be purchased for use on the ~~eath -property,
in accordance with the Ctty's agreement. I~ioved by Peters seconded by ~:ay that the Water I ~ I
Supt. be instructed to purchase the pump and install it. The vote was ~s 'ollows: byes:

Fire Chief Baughman asked that the allo~h~ance in the Budget for his expenses to the Firemens Convention be authorised, also that the City pay his expenses

bequest be granted, and that his expenses be allotired for the bG~.lance of the Southern
Uregon trip. Carried.

investigate and report in the matter of the recuest of G. S. Butler a.nd D. i'erozzi for 11'~ a contract with the City for the bottling of the surplus
