Ashland, Oregon, December 20, 192'7.
The council met in regular session at 7:30 o'clock P.~i. on this date. Present
~QUncilmen Bergner, ~~ay, Peters, Thornton, ~~,~Jhite, '~~'Joods; absent rlayor Pierce.
IVinutes of the previous meeting were read and approved as read.
Bill of the Ashland Register for supplies for the Blectric Light Department, amount-
ing to ~3t3.00, was presented. 4~iov~~d by '~7oods seconded by 'edhite that said bill be allo~,~red and ~~rarrant ordered dra~xm in payment thereof.
Carried.
Councilman Peters brought up the matter of the request of T.L. Potivell that the .City
change the drain at the intersection of Van T~Iess Avenue and Gak Street. I`YZovdd by Bergner 1~~
seeon?ea by ','foods that the matter be left to the Street Committee with pov~er to act s.t the
proper time. Carried.
The matter of granting L. R. Hatcher the use of the city lot near the greenhouse for a period of five years ~x1as referrea to the Realty Committee.

Bill of C.~. Baughman for oar license for the year 1928, amounting to X22.00 was I~~
presented. after some discussion, the natter was left to the Fire C®~aittee to take up
with ~~~r. Baughman.
Bills O.K'd by the Finance Committee, amounting to X11,058.84, were read in total
amount only. ~,~otion made and seconded that said bills be allo~~ed and warrants ordered drawn in payment thereof., The. ,vote was as follo~rs; Ayes
Bergner, Kay, Peters ~'Vhite,
Woods; nays none. Carried.

Re~i~~n~~tion of C. I~,~P~.erce as ~"~ayor of the f~ity of Ashland was read.
Dr Woods t:-Stated ~ d that..o~tfhg to the present state of ~Ir. Pierce's health he felt it
to be the duty of the council to accept the resignation. It was moved by Woods seconded le~~
bar Kay that said resignation be accepted. Carried
Moved by Bergner seconded by Woods that the City Attorney be instructed to prepaxe
a formal resolution of acceptance of the ~aror's resignation and to present same to the
Council at its next meeting. Carried.
R~®vsd by Bergner seconded by Wooo.s that E. Thornton be nominated to fill the
unexpired terffi of I~lr. C.Ii.Pieree as ~~ayor. ~~Zoved by ~.eters secondea by Kay that the
nominations be closed and the Recorder instructed to asst the unanimous vote of the council for J. E. Thornton as Mayor. Carried. r`~
