Present ::Iayor Thornton; Councilmen Kay, Peters, Taylor, ~~hite, l~doods; absent Bergner. Minutes of the previous meeting; were read a.nd approved as read. The 1~~iayor delivered his annual address to the Council and appointed the following officers to serve during the year 1928: Chief of Police G . ►~1. Clause Water Supt.. Earl R. R. r~terrill City Electrician C. A. Malone Police Judge C. J. Baughman City Attorney IJI. Beiggs Assistant City Recorder (on recommendation of Recorder) Calla Biegel The Mayor stated that the City Engineer, Sexton of Cemeteries and Caretaker of the Dump Ground would not be appointed at this time. Sam Prescott was appointed as temporary Night Patrolman. Moved by White seconded by Kay that the Council confirm the appointments made by the P.Zayor. Carried. The Recorder read a communication from the United States Dept. of Agriculture regarding the City's application for easement for reservoir, which lies partly within the Crater national Forest. The District Forester asked that a resolution be passed by the Council authorizing the execution of the application. Moved by Kay seconded by Peters that the City ~~ttorney be ins~ructed to dr~jft a resolution as requested by the Forestry Department. Carried. A communication from the President of the Multnomah Anglers and Hunter's Club was read and referred to the Chamber of Commerce. The y,~iayor stated that ~~ank Jordan had estimated the cost of the cabinet to be built in the Recorder's Office to be approximately X75.00. It was moved by Peters seconded by Kay ghat Mr. Jordan be instructed to build the cabinet at the c~:~~ ~.r,o~ osed by l:~r. Jordan. Carried. Moved by ~~oods seconnded by Kay that action on the r°esignation of Councilman Bergner be further deferred. Carried.
