The +iayor appointed l,~r. A>~~. J. Olsen sexton of cemeteries for the year 1928. h2oved
by ''Moods sec~~nded by 'e~~hite that the appointment be confirmed. Carried.
The City Attorney reported that he had interviewed r~~ss. P,~ellor regarding the purchase
of a small tract of land belou~r the CroyArson Hill Reservoir and stated that she would not
consider anything below X400.00. The council decided to take no action at this time.
The matter of repairing the City Hall roof was discussed but no action was taken.
The City Attorney reported that he had ~:ired Senator ~~cNary anti ~:Ir Hawley regarding
the matter of introducing a bill providing for the sale of timber land in the ~.shland 'eater
Shed. ; Mr. H~.wley, he said, suggested that the City of Ashland prepare a bill similar to that of the City of Portland and fory~rard the same

moved by Bergner seconded by Kay that City Attorney vJm. T~. Briggs and I~~Iayor Thornton be
authorized to go to the Portland at the expense of the City to interview ~~Ir. Grant, City
Attorney of Portland, and dir. Cecil, regar~.ing ~:teps taken by them in this matter. Carried.
City Ordinance Teo. 863 providing far the collection anti aisposition of garbage y~rithin
the City of Ashland, which received its first reading Feb. 7th, yeas again taken up. Havir~
been read the second time, roll call was ordered on its. adoption. The vote y~1as as follows: Ayes- Bergner, ~~y, reters, 'w°~hite, b~Joods;
r1aJs none. Carried.
Thereupon the =~a~ or declared City Orc'~inance Ido . 863 adopted.

The bids for cement were each "3.57 per bag in car lots f.o.b. .Ashland, with the exception
of the bid of Henry Cowell Lime & Cement Co. which was "3.37 per sack.
The bids submitted for the construction of Reeder Gulch dam and for furnishing the
cament were referred to the Engineers for investigation.
