Sept. 4, 1928. ~
The council met in regular session at 7:30 o'clock P.M. on this date. Present
Mayor Thornton; Councilmen Blake, Kay, Peters, u`lhite, Woods; absent Bergner.
Minutes of the meetings of August 21st and Aug. 27th were read and ~~e approved
5 when the notes of :the ~eetirig which was held immediately following the executive session
on Aug. 27th, shall have been places on record.

Reports of C. A. Malone and Frank C. Dillard were read and approved and ordered placed on file.
Mrs. Eliza Hicks addressed the council asking that steps be taken to remedy the
sanitary conditions a~ Barney's Auto '~~recking Lot. A similar complaint was reported regaz°d-
ing the house at the corner of Glenn Avenue and North :"ain Street, just bs.ck of the Tallman
property. The y~ater Supt. stated that both these houses were too low to connect with the
sewer. ,It was moved by ~Noods seconded by Blake that septic tanks be ordered ~r. at both these places. Carried.
~~otion was made and seconded that I~~rs. Tallman be instructed to dispose of the un-
sanitary nuisance on her property at once. Carried.
Councilman 'Nhite reported that fountain Avenue has been oiled. He also stated that
he had investigated the request for the opening of Nevada Street. The matter was dis-
cussed and the Street Committee instructed to continue the investigation.
Councilman Woods reported tha sale of the small triangular tract on North Main Street,
adj pining the Gas Co.'s lot, to '~V.M. Briggs for x;50.00.
The matter of repairing the pavement on north Main Street was discussed and referred
to the Street Commissioner by the Mayor with instructions .either to make"the necessary
repairs at once or to put up danger flags.
Bills amounting to X68,776.18 were presented. Motion was made and seconded that
said bills be allowed subject to thQ approval of the Finance Committee. The vote on the
motion was as follows: Ayes: Blakey Kay, Peters, `~dhite, Woods; nays none. Carried.
Councilman White recommended that mare garbage cans be purchased. Motion was made
and seconded that the Stzieet Committee be authorized to purchase proper containers for
the collection of refuse and sweepings from the stores. Carried.
Moved by '~)oods seconded by Blake that the matter pf cutting off the corner at the
Swedenburg Building on the corner of Second and main Streets be referred to the Street
Committee for investigation and report. Carried.
E. R. Hosler addressed the council regarding the matter of building additional fence
in the water shed. After some discussion it was moved b y Peters seconded by 'Moods ghat
Mr. Hosler be instructed to proceed with the construction of the fence as outlined. Carried.
On motion, the council adjourned subject to call of the Mayor.

The council met at the call of the Mayor at 7:30 o'clock P.M. on this date. Present
Mayor Thornton; Councilmen, Blake, Kay, Peters, `~lhite, Woods; absent Bergner.
The Mayor stated that the meeting was called at the request of the City Attorney to
settle the matter of the dirt washed down on Mrs. Mellor's property below Crowson Hill
Reservoir.
The City Attorney stated that Mrs. Mellor would sell the City approximately 1 3~4
acres of land below the reservoir for x:200.00. Moved by White seconded by Woods that
the City purchase said property at the price named. Carried unanimously.
Freight bills amounting to x;494.20 were presented. Moved by Peters seconded by Kay
that said bills be approved subject to the approval of ~hgineer Dillard. Carried
unanimously.
On motion, the council adjourned subject to call.
