Ashland, Oregon, Oct. 16, 1928.
~ The council met in fegilar session at 7:30 o'clock P.M. on this date. Present
* Mayor Thornton; Councilmen Bergner, Blake: Kay, Peters, V~hite, Woods; absent none.

Henry ~:aynes addressed the council asking that steps be taken to cause W.S.Ramsey
to take care of the drainage water that he is now emptying ~in front of the property of Mr. Ha~tnes. After some discussion it was moved by Bergner secon~.ed
by 'rdhite that the
matter be referred to the Sanitary Committee with power to act. Carried.

Frank Jordan presented plans for the remodeling of the Swedenburg Building on East
Main Street. R~TOVed by Woods seconded by Blake that the G.C.Co. be granted a permit to
remodel said building in accordance with the plans. Carried.
Engineer '~~alker made a verbal report on the progree of vaork on the dam.
~~fioved by Moods seconded by V~hite that the action of the City Attorney in changing
the numbers of the measures on the ballots be approved. Carried unanimously.
The Mayor appointed a Budget Comr~tte~e,~cgnsisting of T. H. Simpson, G.VJ.Dunn,
J.H.McGee, F. J. Swenning, A. E. Kinney ~n~ G. S Butler to meet with the council lvionday,
iGov. 5th, at 7 o'clock P.1~. to assisting them in preparing the budget for the year 1929.
On motion, the council adjournes subject to call of the mayor.

The council met at the call of the ~~~ayor at 7:30 o'clock P. on this date. Present
Mayor Thornton; Councilmen Blake, Kay, White, 'goods; absent Bergner, Peters.
Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved as read.
Councilman '~'dhite reported that the Street Committee had looked over :forth gain Street
and recommended that ~ drain pipe be put in as suggested. Engineer Walker stated that the approximate cost of the improvement would be x;500.00 or

by Kay that the Street Committee be authorized to proceed with the improvement as recommended

The hour of 8 o'clock having arrived the council proceeded to open and consider the
bids received for the X125,000.00 blocs of water bonds. The bids submitted were as follows: ~ ~4~

Moved by Woods seconded by White that the bid of Blyth t~~itter ~ Co., Pierce, Fair ~
Co. and Atkinson, Jones ~ Co. be accepted Carried unanimously.
' ~'he request of property o~mers on G~~rfield Street for a sewer was referred to the
Sanitary Committee for investigGtion.
Dr. Woods stated that he had intervie~^1ed ~~enry ~:aynes and `~~~.S.Ramsey regarding the
complaint made at the fast council meeting. He stated that he v~ished to talk to other ~
interested parties before making a final report. ~ ~ I
Engineer 'balker reported that the appro~.imate cast of extending iVevada Street and
building a passable road would be under ~'~100* provided the interestea propertiy
perform the labor. It was moved by Woodx seconded by Kay that the Street Committee be
authlrized to proceed with the improvement along the lines suggested. Carried unanimously.
Freight bills amounting to X889.56 were presented. Mof.ion was made and seconded that
said bills be allowed subject to the apr,roval of Engineer Dillard. Carried unanimously.
