Present :ayor Thornton; Cou~lcilmen Bergner, Blake, Claycomb, Mersey, ~r~~enner; absent Taylor. ~~Tinutes of the previous meeting; ~sYere read and approved as read. ~ Report of C . The vote `eras as follo~rs: Ayes Bergner, Blake, Claycomb, Hersey, ~'~er~ner; nays none. Carried. Petition asking that two street lights he ihstalled on Orange Avenue eras read and, 15 on motion, refer_~ed to the Electric bight and Street Committees. proposed ~~•lotion was made and seconded that the a~ayor and Recorder be authorized to sign the agr~emez~t bet~reen the California-Oregon Po`xrer Company and the City of Ashland for electr~ service. Carried unanimously. Councilman Taylor entered and tiaras ackno~~rledged present, On recommendation of ~ayor Thornton motion Maras made and seconded that I;~~rs. Bert ' XarbrnU..Mh and a:~s. Jessie Searing be granted free water and lights to:~uly 1, 1929, 16 and_that their back bills be cancelled. Carried. The matter of purchasing a truck for the Street::Bepartr~ent ti=1as again discussed. It was moved b Berner seconded b Blake that the Street Committee be authorized y ~ y ~ 1'7 to purchase a truck from the lo~~~est bidder. Carried unanimously. The matter of the request for a se~Arer ors Garfield Street was referred to the Board ~ ~ z of Health. 3 Complaint regarding the '~d'aite wiry bawl on Io~ya Street eras referred to the Board of 18 Health and Ss.nitary Committee with instructions to take the matter up ~~rith ~~~r. t~~aite. e The request of B. Perozzi for permission to build the third. story of the ~~otel ~?shland o~" brick veneer instead of an 8" brick wall was discussed. l;~otion was made and seconded that i;s. Perozzi be informed that the council does not consider itself justified in amending the ordinance for this particular case. Carried unanimously. The matter of number the houses on Roca, Oberlin, Indiana and other streets was discussed. The :~ayor appointed a special committee consisting of Councilmen ~t~enner, lg Claycomb and. Taylor anc! the Citygineer to investigate this matter and make recommenda- I Lions to the cou~lcil. These prices u~~ere presented to the council. The ~~~ayor appointed a cor_~ittee consisting of Councilmen Mersey and f~'aylor to investigate and bring in recorm:~ell~.ations at the next meeting.  The dater Superintendent submitted a map showing the land now irrigated from the Talent Ditch and lands which iiiay be irrigated `ihen the necessary mains shall have been laid. It was moved by Claycomb seconded by Mersey that the '.rater Superintendent be authorized 23 to purchase two meters for metering the Talent Y later. The vote was as follows : Ayes Blake, Claycornb, Kersey, Taylor; Nays none. Carried. MMW
