Goldy and others, ob jec~ing to the assess~~ents a~~"it~st their properties in Side~frall~ Curb and Gutter District To. 4. They stated that they thought the assessing of additional cost to the olxmers of corner prope?~ties ~xras unfair and called the at~{;ention a of the cauncil ~o the Fact that tl~e curb and sidetikralk in the intersections in Sid.ev~ralk District ~Io. 1 were paid by the city out of the ge,~~eral fund. I~~~oved by Bergner seconded by Tayler that the City Attorney be instructed to reply and explain why it ti~rould be im- possible for the City to change it's policy ~=rhich ~*ras adopted several years ago. Carried. A eo~iunication from ?~on~er Billings thanking the council _ for ~ cutting down the hill on ~iorth I~~ain Street near the old rock crusher site, ~•ras read. C I~loved by ~Iersey seconded by ~~~enner that ~ Fri~idaire ~e installed in the T,`ickelson Fountain and the cost of installation be borne by vane City. Carried unanimously. I;~_ovee by Bergner seconded by Blake that the City Recorder be instructed to transfer ~~1,000,00 as a loan from the Electric Light Fund to the General Fund to pay the balance of the bills against the Zithia Fountains. L1 I~,Toved by Bl~~1Le seconded by Bergner that the electric Zight Supt. be authorized to purchase 26 poles for extension of the new street lighting system on Morth Fain Street the approximate cost of the poles to be x;102.00 each. Tr1e vote was as follows: Ayes Bergner, Blake, I~Ierseym Tayler, ~`~~enner, nays none. Carried. r .x The City Attorney reported that the contract for insuring the city cars had been given to 7Tx. E. T. Staples, his rate, for insurance ilavi been w76.00 less than that submitted By E. ~ • Adamson. Moved by Bergner seconded by Blare that the action of the I~~~ayor and Street Committee ' in cutting the point on Tvorth ~~:ain Street and selling the soil to ti'J.PfZ.Briggs for 40¢ per cubic yard be approved, Carried unanimously. Councilmen Claycomb entered the room and eras acknov~rledged present. The request of ~'~~~~I!~I. Briggs for permission to cut the tree in front of the cement building on I~iorth Pioneer avenue ~°ras referred to the Street Committee with poti~rer to act, On motion of Bergner seconded by Blake the request of H.J.Carter for permission to F.. erect a sign in the parr row near his service station was refused. ` .
