Report of J. ~~auchope for the 1~onth of August was read and, on motion, accepted
and ordered placed on file.
Bills O.K'd by the finance Committee, amounting to y~9,234.46~yrere read in total

Col~;~munication from the I:lthla Hotel Co. raking application for a supply of Zithia
eater to be z^urnished to the I,ithia Springs Motel, liras read. It ,fitas moved by Claycomb seconded by Blake that the request of the I,ithia Hotel
Company to install lithia tiFrater
be granted it being understood anc~. agreed that said ti~rater is to be i~i.rnished as long
} as it is available and that it is to be kept ice cold at all times, the City reserving
the right to discontinue said service at any time they may see fit. Carried. ~
The council ne~~t proceeded to consider a communication from C. A. and A.~i.Gray
protesting against the ~trzrning'~-of surplus ~Frater from the Ta ~ ent Irrigation District into the rav~wQrrumn~ through the.r property. The Ira Jror rez"erred
this matter to the
City Attorney ,ins-~ructions to interview the Talent Irrigation District's Attorney
regarding the Cit~;r's respo:c~sibilit~,~ in th1.S ; lattor.
The hour of 8 o'cloc?~. hav~..~`° ~.rrived the council proceeded to consider bids for
the z"urnishing of crushed rock, sand a~~1c~ gravel. the bid of O.S.B~:sterling tivas the
only one received. The bid having been read motion ~xras made a~_ld seconded that it be held over to the next r.~eeting pending investigation. Carried.
Bill oz" sale for the ~4ickelson-Chapman memorial fountain eras read. ~~~oved by
Bergner seconded by Claycomb that the matter 'ce referred to the City ;attorney Frith
instructions that he familarize himself tiFaith the ~vill of Victoria S.C.~Iickelson to
see if the fountain is in proper shape for ac:-eptance. Carried.
g Councilman Claycomb presented the request of t~1e Chamber of Co~nerce for a dor~a-
Lion to help i~efray the cost o' the near folders. ~.~oved by Bergner seconded by Blake
~h~~t the Chamber o~ Commerce be granted a :,;:,25.00 donation zrom the ~ublieity ~
Chautauqua urld. Carried.
engineer j;alker stated t~1at Dr. ~-tie Sha~~~ claims thaat the City has taken five
feet of land from her property on "C" Street far ~~rhich she has never been paid. Moved by Bergner seconded by Tayler that this matter be refs°rred
to the City Attorney for
investigation and report. Carried,
The ~a~ror stated that ~~r. ~,'~auchope is preparing an estimate of the cost of putting
in the neti~r pipe line from the dam to the porter house al_d that the matter gill be brougt
up ~'or discussion an an early date.
