Plans and specifications for the improvement were presented by Councilman
~ri Claycomb. After same discussion it was moved by ~lenner seconded by Blake that the
specifications be referred to a committee for revision and a roval, and the Cit p p y
advertise for bids, based on the revised specifications. The vote was as follows: n
Ayes Bergner, Blake, Claycomb, Hersey, Tayler, Glellner; nays none. Carried.

The council next discussed the matter of the proposal of ~~r. Goggins to pur-
chase the timber ~n the ~~artin Tract but no action was taken.

Engineer m~alker reported on the probable cost of seti~lering~lo~°~er Laurel Street
District.
~~~oved by Claycomb seconded by Tayler that the City Recorder be authorized to
pay the Balance of the taxes due on the Normal. property. Carried unanimously. '

Reports of the Street Commissioner, Chief of Police, Supt. of the Electric
Department, Sefton of Cemeteries, dater Supt. and Librarian for the month of June:, 1930, were read and, on motion, accepted and ordered placed on file.

Bill O.K'd by the Finance Committee, amounting to X150.00, was presented.
l~~Iotion was made and seconded that said bill be allowed and warrant ordered draum
in payment thereof. The vote was as follo~rs: Ayes Bergner, Blake, Claycomb, ~'Jenner; nays none. Carried.
Councilman Tayler entered the room and was acknowledged present.

On motion of Bergner seconded by Blake the Superintend of the Electric Dept,
was instructed to attend the meeting of the Northti~~estern Association of Electrical
Inspectors to be held in the City of Bellingham, V`~ashington, on August 25th to 27th inclusive, the City to bear the expense of the trip.

On recommendation of the Realty Cammittee,~Ray `~albot was granted permission
to erect three cabins.
M Councilman Bergner presented a statement of Disbursements of the City Depart-
ments operating under the an~~ual Budget for the period beginning Jan. 1st, 1930,
and ending June 30, 1930.
Engineer ~~Jalker presented plans and specifications for the ~r.o~osed Park
Avenue paving improvement. ~~2oved by Claycomb seconded by B3~,ke that the plans and
specifications be approved. Carried.

W. S. Smith addressed the council asking that the City bear part of the expense
of moving his chicken house on Ziberty Street. On motion of Bergner, seconded by Blake this matter was referred to the Sanitary Committee for investigation
and rec-
ommendations at the next meeting.

The hour of 8 fl'c~.ock having arrived the council proceeded to open bids for the construction of pavement on t~ainburn Way through I,ithia Park. The
bid of 0. S. Easter-
ling was the only one presented. On motion of Bergner seconded by Blake the matter 1
was referred to the Engineering Department with instructions to submit figures on tY~
probable cost of the improvement at a special meeting to be called by the ~~a yor.
On motion, the council adjourned subject to call. j

The council met at the call of the ~ti~iayor at 7:30 o'clock P.~,~2. on this date.
Present T:~ayor i~hornton; Councilmen Bergner, Blake, Cleycomb, Hersey, ~~Jenner; absent
Tayler.
The ~~a yor stated that the meeting had been called for the purpose of coming to
a decision regarding the Park Avenue paving.
Engiheer ttlalker presented an estima+P of the probable cost of the pavement if
constructed by the City stating that he thought th~~:,Bitumuls pavement could be laid
for ~9 cents a square yard.
It j~as moved by Kersey seconded by 4~enner that the bid of 0. 8. Easterling be
rejected and his certified check be returned to him. Carried unanimously.
~~~oved by Claycomb seconded by Blake that the Engineer be ib~structed to make
a ~.etailed report of the cost of the work ana present same to the council at its
next meeting. Carried..
On motion, the council adjourned. Mayor
