Present 14~ayor Thornton; Councilmen Bargner, Blake, Claycomb, Hersey, Tayler, Wenner; absent fr none . ~ ~~~Iinutes of the meeting of June 16th, 1931, were read and approved as read. Bills O.K'd by the Finance Committees amounting to X12,414.40, were read in total amount only. notion was made and seconded that said bills be allov~red and warrants ordered drawn in payment thereof. The vote was as follows: Ayes Bergner, Blake, Claycomb, Hersey, 'Tayler, V~lenner; nays none. Carried. The council next roceeded to consider a communication from G. B. Icenhower asking that the owners of the Wimer Building be required to pay a just amount for ' the use of the old sewer in the rear of the building to the other owners of the sewer or that the;~old sewer be abandoned altogether. 14~r. Icenhower and ~~ir. Stennett addressed the council regarding this request. After some discussion the ~~ayor referred the matter to the Sanitary Committee, City Engineer and eater Superintendent for investigation abd recommendations. ~~irs. Freeman addressed the council requesting that a sewer be constructed on Oberlin Street. No action was taken at this time. The matter of the request of A•Z.Swapp for permission to move the walnut tree in Bridge Street was referred to the Street Committee. e The following building permits were granted: No. 181 Remodel ~.welli~g, 606 Oak Street ,~'~•P.Bellus X500.00 182 Erect bungalow-Io~ra & Wightman- W•D.Booth 1200.00 ~4 183 Erect garage and woodwhed, Joe Kerr 125.00 Ivoved by Tayler secondea by Bergner that the plank and specifications for the serer in Sewer District No. 35 be approved and the Recorder be instructed to advertise  for bids for the construction of said sewer: July 21st 1931 at 8 P.M to be fixed as the time for the opening of the bids. Carried. J r Loved by Claycomb seconded by Blake that the City Engineer be instructed to proceed with the grading and rocking of the streets ordered paved by Resolution. Carried. ` ~~fioved by Bergner seconded by Tayler that the Recorder be instructed to transfer 500.00 from the Electric Ligrst Fund ~e a loan to be used in the construction of a sewer in Sewer District NoL 35. The council met in regular session at 7:30 o'clock P.~~2. on this date. Present Mayor Thornton; Councilmen Bergner, Blake, Claycomb, Hersey, Tayler, Wenner; absent none. ~~inutes of the previous meeting were read and approved as read. Reports of E. R. Hasler, Ernest F. Cooper and C. W. Clause for the month of June, 1931, and report of M. J. Olsen for the months of Jan., Feb. rE~ch. and April, 1831, were read and approved as read. The follo~~ing building permits were granted; 187 Remodeling basement in High School X750.00 188 Reshingling dwelling at 463 Palm Ave., Gertie Haan 150.00 Communication from the Austin-Western Road Machinery Co. was read in which they state that they have performed their part of their contract to deliver to the City an Austin Grader. They attached a certified claim for X3710. After some discussion it was moved by Bergner seconded by Blake that the matter of settlement for the grader be referred to the City Attorney for attention. Carried. Petition signed by 18 merchants on and around the Plaza asking that the "No Left Turn" sign on the street in front of the City Hall be removed for the reason that the same is confusing to tourists, was read and referred to the Police and Traffic Department by the Mayor. Councilman Tayler reported that new chamica l hose has been ordered for the Fire Department. E. R. Hosler reported the installation of two amr~onia machines. The Water Supt. asked that the Department be granted permission to change the water restrictions before the next council meeting if necessary. it was moved by Bergner seconded by Blake that the ti~ater Committee be given authority to put into effect an ~vater restrictions they may see fit unless it is a drastic change in which event they are to cmnsult the It~Iayor. Carried. The request of E. D. Patterson that he be granted permission to make a temporary connection with the pipe line at the end of Oak Street just outside the city ;limits was referred to the Water Committee with power to act. Prices on a nee*~ truck for the '~~~ater Department were submitted by the Claycomb l~;rotor Company and Automotive Shop. Prices for repairing the old truck were submitted by the Claycomb ~v2otor Co., Automotive Shop and Perry Z. Ashcroft. Moved by Hersey seconded by Bergner that the matter of purchasing a new truck he referred to the Water Committee with po~hwer to act. Bids were opened for the construction of a seE~er in Sewer District No. 35. The bid of Frank Jordan amounted to 2,197.30. B.L•Delsman offered to do the work and fornish the material therefor for X1,696.00. fir, Walker furnishea an estimate of the probable cost of the sewer if constructed by the City. Moved by Bergner seconded by Claycomb that the bid for the construction of the sewer be left to Mr. Delsman, the lowest bidder. The vote was as follows: Ayes Bergner, Blake, Claycomb, Hersey, Tayler, ti'lenner; nays none. Carried. ~ilr. Delsman agr°ed to give the City the advantage of the saving to be made by the pity purchasing the se~~rer pipe. Mr. Icenhower and ~~~r. Stennett again presented their claim regarding their interest in the old sewer back of the Wimer and other buildings. After sor~siderable 3 discussion the council decided that this matter would have to be settled by the persons affected and no action was taken.  Moved by Wenner seconded by Bergner that the matter of repairing the old grader be left to the Street Commissioner and Street Committee with power to act. s On motion, the council adjourned subject to call of the Mayor. ~%or.
