the council met in regular session at 7.30 o clock P.~<<. on this date. Present
l,~yor Thornton; Councilmen Bergner, Blake, HerseJr, Tayler, tif~enner; absent Claycomb.

~~?onthly reports of J. t~lauchope, E. R. €~osler, E. F. Cooper and L. A. Roberts
were read and, an motion, accepted and ordered placed an file.
Application of Bert Hati~~ks fora ;permit to keep not to exceed 100 fov~~ls ~,rithin the
city limits was referred to the a~_nitary Committee.
The following building permits v~ere granted:
No. 191 Donald I'~1• Spence. , Permit to build garage on East ir~~ain St. X150.00
192 Thamc:~s L. Duncan, permit to rebuild dwelling- 108 Bush St. 1500.00 ~
193 B. T~~ Lininger, permit to reaodel and reroof house-Oberlin St. 350.00

L. H. Teters addressed the council asking that the penalties on his light and
water rents be remitted. This clatter was z°efez°red to the '~',~ater Committee with poc,:•er to
act .
?~~~oved by Bergner seconded by Blake that the Recorc~~~r be authorized to transfer
~2500.OU from the Electric Light Fund to Paving District Ho. 6 Fund as a temporary loan.
The vote was as follo~xrs : Ayes Bergnez~, Blake, iiersey, Tayler,: ~uenner; nays none. Carried.
~~,~oved by Bergner seconded by '~~nnerthat the Recorder be authorized to transfer ~~25.00
from the Electric Light Fund to SeYF~er :uistrict T~Io. 34 Fund as a loan. Carried.
Councilman Bergner stated that the Finance Committee v~~as not ready to make recommends- r
Lions regarding reduction of salaries.
The I~~d~ayor brought up the matter of lighting the Tennis Courts in the Fark. He presented an estimate shoti°~ing the approximate cost of lighting
two courts to be ,130.00, and the cost
of lighting one Court ;75.00. ~.*oved by Bergner seconded by Blake that the matter of
lighting one Court be referr°ed to the Electric Light Committee with po~~~er to act vaith the
reeornmendation from the Council that a 25 cent per hour meter be installed. Carried.
~`n recommendation of '~ayor Thornton it was moved by Blake seconded by Hersey that
free Ii~~hts and water to Jan. 1, 1932 be granted ?as. l~,~yrtle Beatty on Bush Street. Carrie d.
The 'eater Superintendent reported that E. A. ~~amilton is living in a house on A
• Street without sewer connection. On motion of Vlenner seconded by Hersey this matter was
referred to the Sanitary Com~~nittee and City Attorney for action.
The City engineer addressed the council regardir.;~ requests of citizens for paving and
presented several petitions.. After some discussion,'on moton'of T~~enner seconded by Bergn'r,
the City Attorney was instructed to prepare a resolution ordering in paving on cep°tain streets,~~.sdid';~e~o~ation to be considered at a special meeting
to be called by the i~~ayor.
The vote was as follows: Ayes Bergner, Blake, Tlersey, Tayler, 'Y'~enner; nays none. Carried.
On motion, the council adjourned subject to call of the ~.Iayor.

After some discussion,: it was moved by Tayler seconded by Hersey that the cost of
installing the ammonia machines on the vrater system be split fifty fifty between the Light and y'~+ater Funds,. The vote was as follows: Ayes Bergner,
Blake, Claycomb, Hersey, i;
Tayler, V~lenner; nays none. Carrie~~.. ~

The council proceeded to consider a proposed city ordinance entitled "Ordinance
lev 1 s ecial benefit assessment for the cons ruction of a sewer in Sewer Dis~rict Ho. y~~ P ~ 1
36 in the City of Ashland, Oregon." The ordinance having been read. the first time, on
motion, the rules vrere suspended, six voting in favor them=~of', anc~ the ordinance was passed to the second reading. Having been read the second
time, roll call was ordered
on its adoption. The vote was as follo~~rs : Ayes Bergner, Blake, Claycomb, Hersey,
Tayler ~~Tenner; nays none.

The council next proceeded to consider a proposer r'.resolution entitled "Resolution
ordering the construction of cement sidewalks, curbs and emulsified asphalt paving in
Paving District No. 7 herein described, wherein said sidewalks) curbs and paving are not
already laid; authorizing the said construction .-ork to be done under the supervision of
the City Engineer and without the letting of bids therefor; and providing for the payment
of the costs of said improvements by assesszent against the property benefited thereby."
