The following building permits ~vere granted:
t~ No. 247 i. E'. '~ebster- Erect a dwelling on yaalker live. X1,500.00
248 H. T. "lmore, build an addition to a dwelling- 42 3rd St. 250.00
A communication from the ~~'irst irrational bank and ,State Bank of ~~~~shland stating that
they are unable to cant~nue payment of interest at the rate of 2 j~o per annum on city
funds and that, ef~'ective dune 1st, 1932, the interest vrill be reduce~_ to 1~~, was read.
The Recorder also read a communication from the Mate Industrial _~~ccident commission
relative to the protection of the fire departr.~lent vrhen it is called to attend a fire outside the city limits. the Commission stated that accirAents
occuring in connection ~~:jith
services rendered outside of the corpor<<te limits of the i;ity of ~"Lshland cannot be
compensated as the rate on which contributions are paid is bt{sed entirely on the hazard
oi° calls ~~rithin the cit limits. y
i'he ~a?a~or reported that tale ~yrire h~,s been ordcr~~d for the elk and pheasant pens in
the Park and that the post holes are being dug and the posts set; ~g:;
The hour of 8 o'clock having arrived the council proceeded to open the bids
submitted by the Standard Oil Co. and Shell Oil Co. for furnishing one c`rload of
emulsifies asphalt. The bids bein; racticall tree same the matter of av~.ardin th p y ~ g e
contract was left to the Street Department.

The council met at the call of the ~~ayor at 7:30 o'clock F. M. on this date. Present
Mayor Thornton; Councilmen Bergner, Blake, Claycomb, Hersey, Tayler, f~Jenner; absent-none.
The council proceeded to consider a proposed city ordinance entitled "Ordinance pro-
viding for the salaries and compensa~~ion of elective and appointive officers of the City of
Ashland, Oregon, for the six months beginning July 1, 1932, and ending T~ecember 31, 1932.n
The ordinance having been regd the first time, on motion, the rules vaere suspended, six voting in favor thereof, and the ordinance was passed to
the second reading. Having been
read the second time, roll call was ordered on its adoption. The vote eras as follotA~s:
Ayes- Bergner, Blake, Claycomb, Hersey, Tayler, 6~~lenner; nays none.
Thereupon the ~~~~ayor declared City Ordinance No. 909 adopted.
t~ It was moved and seconded that the sGluries of the employees of the City of Ashland, ~'c other than those mentioned in the s~~lary ordinance,
be fixed as designated in the schedule
~ ,hereby filed with the minutes of this meeting. Carried unanimously. ~ y"
~~oved by Claycomb, seconded by Tayler that Earl Hosler be appointed Patrolman at no
extra salary for city owned watershed and authorized to use delinquent list of light and
water in providing fire trails and fire prevention in watershed area owned by the City F.
and to use delinquents as patrols in said area. 4~1ork to be charged equally against the
electric ana water departments. C~~~rried unanimously. E,
P~~oved by Hersey seconded by Blake that Councilman `ayler be vruthorized to utilize
delinquents in cutting grass and cleaning up city and private lots, one-half to be
charged to the Emergency Fund and one-half to the light Fund. Carried.
