The council met in regular session at 7:30 otclock F. I~~. this date. Present Mayor a~iley; Councilmen Gregg, Zininger, Taylor, ~.~enner; absent Bergner, Claycomb. Minutes of the meetings of Feb. 15, 21, 23 and March 7th were approved. ~~onthly reports of C. J. Baughman, E. F. Cooper, E. R. Hosler, E. C. Biegel and _ 1~dams ~vere read and on motion accepted and ordered placed on file. The following building permits here granted: No. 2~6 S. Davies to erect a ne~~ front on barber shop at 243-4th Street of concrete and plate glass. X300.00 No. 2~7 Patterson Dairy to erect a milk house of wood and concrete at 311 Mountain avenue. ~ X350.00 No. 268 Henry Van Prooyen to erect garage and woodshed of wood at 472. Scenic Drive. X150.00 A request of the Pacific Telephone and Telegraph Co., to erect a sign in front of the building on Oak Street was granted. Committee Reports. Light Committee. Zininger reported that the Zight Department wanted to buy a carload of poles at this time in order to make a saving on freight. It was brought out by Biegel that the freight which was aoout X200 for one carload ~~~ould ~e the same if a lesser quantity were bought. Moved by Taylor that the bight Department be authorized to purchase one car- load of poles. Seconded by ~~enner and unanimously carried. Fire Committee. Taylor reported that the barn at the corner of '~~imer and Almond Streets was acing removed and a garage built in its place. s r The Mayor announced that he desired to appoint George V. ~rieClure as amity attorney in place of 4Ym. M. Briggs. After some discussion, the vote was taken as follows; Taylor, ~~lenner, No. Zininger, Gregg, Mayor Vliley, Yes. Carried. The motion having been previously made by Zininger to confirm the appointment, which was seconded by Gregg. The questions of the collection of-licenses as required by City Ordinances was on motion by Gregg, seconded by ~denner, laid on the table. The question of a 'tClean Up Days' was brought up by the Mayor. ~,~oved by Taylor that Monday April 3, 1933 be Inaugural Day for the City Spring Clean-up. Seconded by ~~enner. Carried. a The Mayor stated that Dr. Swedenburg desired to be relieved as City Health Officer, and that Dr. Harvey y'Voods would accept the appointment. b2oved by ~~Venner that the appointment of Dr. Harvey '~'Joods be approved. aeconded and carried. Moved by Y~enner that a s~zfficient amount to pay off bonds and interest due April 1st on Chautauqua Improvement Bond No. 809 oe transferred from the Zight Department as a temporary loan. Seconded btu Taylor and unanimously carried. The question of insurance for the Recorder and Assistant Recorder was brought up by Ed. High. It was moved that this be turned over to the Finance Committee ~vith power to act. The motion bein; made by Taylor and seconded by Gregg.
