The council met at the call of the Pti~ayor at 5:00 orcloek P. i~. this date. F~resent Mayor
'~iley: Councilmen Gregg, Ta~rlor, ~lenner. _~bsent C~ouneilr~en Bergner, Claycomb, Lininger.
The Mayor announced that the purpose of the meeting was to act on the ap~~lications
received to date for the sale of non-intol1icating beverages.
The following applications were submitted:

~~~enner moved that the above applications be granted subject to compliance with the provisions of the ordinance, particularly sub-section 11 of section
6, pertaining to screens,
blinds etc. Seconded by Greg; and unanimously carried.
The subject of the moving of ~che telephone pole in front of the Bert Freeman property
w5s taken up ag_vin, but. no definite action talLen.
On motion, the council adjourned to meet at ~che call of the Mayor.

The council met in regular session at 7:30 o'clock P. iii. this date. Present Piayor

Minutes of the last ttivo meetings, April 4 and 6th were approved.
Reports of Light, ;Dater, Street, Fire and Library Bepartments read and accepted.
Bills amountinb to X50.00 (Dues League of Oregon Cities, X25.00 and ~~~lm. Briggs for
statement ~25.00~ were approved and warrants ordered drawn in payment thereof.
n communication fro. the Junior chamber of commerce as,~ln~ permission to supervise the
tennis courts in the park this summer was upon clotion by '~enner ana acing seconde~a by Taylor referred to the Light Committee anti Park Board f'or report.
A request from ~~rs Nicks, 551 Idorth Iulain Street, to have the City furnis~i free water to
a family by the name of ~~~illiams (living in one o~' her houses was referred to tYle water
committee for report.

~~m. i~yi. Briggs representing the Chamber of Commerce asked tree City of Ashland for the
folloV~ing:
1. contribution of X50.00 toward the putting out of a paper advertising the City.
2. Use of the City Engineer in platting a map to be used irl connection with the paper.
3. A permit to put up a banner at the new location of the Chamber of Commerce. 4. To have a suitable sign made to properly designate the Lithia
Fountain.
Moved by Lininger that the City contribute X50.00 toward the Chamber of Commerce pub-
loeation. Seconded by ~~~enner. The vote Bras: ayes, Bergner, Gregg, Lininger, y~lenner. Nays,
Taylor.
Moved by w~enner that Hiegel assist in making the plat for the Cham~er~ of Comr~ere, Seconded 'oy Bergner. Carried.
Moved by Bergner that the permit to put up the banner ue referred to tl~e Street Committee,
with power to act. Carried. i
Moved by Bergner that the Chamber of Commerce be requested to ~aork out their idea of an
adequate and suitaole sign fol' designating the Lithia S:rin,;s Fountain and submit same to the
council for consideration. Seconded by 7enner. Carriea.

Special Committee on the -Air Fort house. Taylor stated that he had received an offer to
wreck the building from Mr. Austin. Moved by Taylor that -Austin be given the contract to
wreck the building for 45.00 and the old lumber. Seconded ny ienner. Carried.
